As well as one or maybe more of these, just everytime you download an EXE file scan it with www.virustotal.com and if you do a google find out how you can make all files display extensions... sometimes people call exe files image01.png.exe or something (and you don't see the .exe - it looks like .png) - unless you're displaying extensions.

Well i used to use Avira Antivir Free edition which was brill. Now I use McAfee which came free with my O2 Broadband package.
