I don't know what it's all about but the rating on IMDb is 9.1 from 17,257 votes. Damn.
I saw the trailer in the cinema and the animation looks stunning. It looks real. Pixar have really outdone themselves this time.
It's already out in the USA, it reaches the UK on the 18th of July.
Who's going to see it? :D I will purely for the animation.

Animation just doesn't cut it for me, and a 9.1? It's really annoying that it is the 9th greatest film of all time on that website - they should do something about the amount of votes a film needs - there are so many unbeatable films ranked so highly on that "top 250" list, that it grinds me one can obtain such high level with under 20,000 votes.
Coldplay

You've not seen it though, so how can you possibly say that?
Misawa
03-07-2008, 02:05 PM
No, I haven't seen it, but the probability of it genuinely beating the majority of the films on that list is very low. That's why I don't use IMDb, it's pretty bogus for ratings.

What's it about?
As I said, I have no idea and the plot on wikipedia is some massive essay so I can't be bothered to read it. :P IMDb says In the distant future, a small waste collecting robot that slowly begins to become sentient inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind.

It was 6th yesterday. :P However, you can't possibly decide if it should be there or not without seeing the film. :) It really could be an amazing film, it definitely has the potential.
I like general animated movies, so it does have potential, but I agree with Misawa here, there are more films that could top it.

I'll definitely be watching it.
A number of people I work with (myself included) have been following this film enthusiastically for months now (incidentally, topical to where we work)... I can't wait for its release!! :eusa_danc
Where do you work? :o
& It can't be judged but no-way will it top films like
Pulp Fiction, Platoon etc.
It won't get into the top 10 xD

rolling stone gave it a rare perfect score, and i pretty much always agree with their film reviews. and otherwise i haven't seen a single bad review yet. my parents saw it and said it was very good, i'll probably be seeing it soon.
what a lot of the reviews said was that while it does have some kid attributes to it, the message of the whole film will go way over their heads, even a lot of parents didn't get it.

Well I was utterly disappointed with this movie. I had insanely high expectations for the movie due to the fact it literally got no bad reviews, RT has it as 97% which is insane. The animation is fantastic, the story is nice, it's a very cute film, but it's too slow in general. It's definitely worth the price of admission and is a good movie, but it's hardly the classic it's made out to be.. Cars, Finding Nemo etc. are all Pixar movies that are better than it, I honestly don't see why Wall-E got such amazing reviews, besides the animation, nothing else is 'outstanding' about the movie.

whatever happened to the days when disney actually made good ones like toy story & little mermaid? :P

Well, I think it's because you've grown older that you see animated features in different lights. Although they have universal content and a garnish of adult humour, modern animated flicks are, of course, primarily for kids, so I'm sure that the younger generation of today enjoys them as much as you enjoyed Toy Story and The Little Mermaid. I can't speak for myself though, as I've never had a thing for animation or anything remotely childish - my innocence for sugarcoated dreamscapes probably shattered when I watched Hellraiser from start-to-finish at 4 years old and loved every second of it, but that's just me.

Wall-E is just another disney disaster, yes greatly animated but yet not a upholding intresting storyline, alot like all there other creations.
Its not about what I find intresting when I was little, and what I do now. The films they sell and put in cinema's now are crap, they have no appeal and frankly I'm sure children even now enjoy Beauty and the Beast over something they've recently made.
Disney can't make classics anymore, they fail terriably.

saw it the other day, was very good. its a challenging film if you're into extremely straight-forward movies. theres no words in the beginning for a purpose, its supposed to portray the feeling of loneliness. anyway, its been getting ridiculously rave reviews, i wouldnt say the film is perfect, but its certainly not your ordinary pixar movie.

Disney work with Pixar ;) thats why all there film's have "Disney Pixar" on them..
Disney can't make good storylines for animations anymore. Disney had to milk all there classic's making seconds and 100 follow up's.
If you compare Ratatoullie to one of the old classic's such as Beauty and the Beast .. You'd notice that there was so much more of an intresting story in Beauty and the Beast, just maybe not the most fasinating animation.
They fail at idea's and they are incapable of living up to there name. They put Walt Disney to shame.

Give them a bit of credit, they've been amazing movies for years and years, so it gets harder for them to make new ones without repeating old stories, so I think they've done pretty well.
Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Lilo & Stitch, Monsters Inc...all awesome films, and all fairly modern too :)
Ratatouille was pretty good, made a nice family film, nothing spectacular, but not crap either. I thought the story line was really good, very unusual.

Nothing compares to the classic's Walt Disney made, those film's will not be seen forever like the classic's. They recycle there idea's such as "ROBOTS" is really this film, just remade and abit of a diffrent story.. They live off past stories, thats why theres Cinderella 2 & 3 which failed understandbly, Aladdin which was ruined by all the follow up's and the unbearable Lady and the tramp sequel. They ruin all there movies, every follow up of there classic's has been a disaster accept "Little Mermaid 2"..
Finding Nemo was okay, there last best movie I reckon. Incredibles was just lame along side Lilo & Stitch and Monsters Inc.
They'll never be what they used to be.. simple as.

Aladdin didn't need those sequels, and imo they wasn't anything close to the original.
Little Mermaid 2 worst sequel? ... What?
Cinderella 2&3 were the worst sequels of all time.
They dragged out the classic's for some extra cash. Then now they have nothing left they have to use there brains and make really bad storylines but really greatly animated!!
None of there film's are as good as they used to be and never will. I'm not going to see this film due to fact it will just be another let down.

Disney own Pixar :)
And I disagree, Pixar's films have been absolutely amazing:
Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille and Wall-E. All have been huge successes, the amount of money taken in by the films and the 25 oscar nominations between them says alot.

I agree with N-Dubz. The only animated disney-pixar films ive like are the toy story ones, Bugs Life and monsters inc. They lack the magic that the hand drawn classics did like The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Dumbo, Bambi etc.
Think about the Disneylands, people go to them because they like the magical feeling. These new films they are bringing out are just garbage compared to the classic films. Also the games they tie in with the movies are appaling.

Whilst I think the older films made by Disney are in a different league, they are still producing good films. Maybe not of the same high standard such as Lion King etc but great films are still being made by them. If you think how many films they have made, cartoon/animated - it gets a bit hard to think up something completely original. Lots of directors make sequels to films, sometimes they are just trying to make lots of money out of a sequel but isn't that one of the main aims of a film? To try & gross as much money as possible? And surely sequels are made because they believe that they can make them great, & therefore gross money.
Whilst Helen & N-Dubz both have valid points, they are both opinions. In terms of how "good" the film was based on fact you should see how much the films grossed. Because whilst you can both disagree with how good or bad certain sequels were, that is just your opinion, and what helps prove your opinion into fact is how successful it was - what it grossed.
I must say, Wall-E does look pretty good. I'm not sure I would go see a film with no dialogue at the start but this seems worth it just to see it all.

Games of films are ALWAYS crap. I cannot think of a good one.

Great film some funny stuff in it too great all round film.
Storyline seems terrible. I am not into animation no more, I seen the trailer for it when I went the movies to see Hancock and The Dark Knight and no way would it attract me to see it. Just my opinion though.

I Love hancock and the dark night though hancock could of been better.. But wall-e is just a good film i wouldn't say its one of my best films of all time but it was enjoyable and i didnt find it a waste of 2 hours or what ever like i do with some films.
I just saw it.. I never see like animated movies.. But recently I saw kung fu panda and Wall-E.. And I really like this one.. Hes so adorable going "Eva" all the time.
