Recursion

Hello,
Word 2007 just keeps "hanging there" for around 10 seconds if I say, click on a menu or something. It's kinda usable I guess but is there anyone who knows how to fix it? :/

Mine's not great either, if you close it with out saving does it always say 'Microsoft Word has stopped working...'? So irritating...

Yes it does :/I just Googled the problem with it not closing properly and I finally found an answer. If you have a HP Printer as default, that causes it to crash, said by an Microsoft Employee. It's HPs end at fault, one answer is to make sure it isn't default.

Same with me, but it only does it with 97-2003 documents. :S
Needs an update, and fast.
EDIT: I've got a HP printer too.. great.

That's really irritating, surely this can be fixed? I have an HP printer as default over a wireless network... but I don't have any problems except it takes a while to connect to the printer and jams for about 30 seconds while it's connecting... but that's probably because it's over a wireless network.

So that lag will not happen if I change the default printer?

urrrr ive got a HP printer on mine too, so thats the problem. My printers a mong too, ment to be decent its PSC 2355 all in one thing, photo printer with a screen and everything but its useless. When I print something on word in fast draft it just stops and brings up "Paper Jam" and heres the best part :P my printer can get the blue screen of death on its tiny screen lmao, when i turn it on it always breaks so i have to turn it off and back on.

I'm sick to death of HP Printers too, my family is lumbered with two of them.
'WE ARE TRULY ****** NOW!'
Glad I'm not the only one suffering though, we got a HP Photosmart C5180, it's sold everywhere as Vista compatible. However it's only partially Vista compatible, when it wants to be. It's 50:50 whether it'll print for you or not, and then you have bedlam messing with the Printer queues if it doesn't work, at the time nothing came up when I googled the problem, now everyone is saying it isn't fully Vista compatible, I cannot believe they're not sorting their drivers and software and actually conned us out of good money when it's hardly compatible. It's good at copying but scanning is complicated as hell on a network and printing isn't ideal.
We've also got a HP LaserJet 1010, it was released a few months before Vista. It's great with XP, very very fast but sadly they've never bothered to update their drivers, the HP website just says 'We advise you to buy a new printer, check here to see the latest models'.
The actual hardware isn't too bad on either but the software is just diabolical in every respect, I'd never go HP again and there's my advise ;)
