Yes I think so, if there wasn't, its just another way of creating inequality in the supposedly 'equal' society, also if they want to do it, I don't think there should be anything in their way of achieving their goals.

This all breaks down to a matter of belief in religion, so everyone has their own "belief" to it, but yet might not go into action anyway.

A lot of people won't care anyway, as hardly anyone (Stereotyping Britain here.) gives a damn about the Church.

It depends, socially I think yes, but the bible clearly states women shouldn't be teaching the bible. So it's a yes and no answer really. I think they should, they're not any different than men in teaching services.

Yup, as said it's all down to belief of Religion.

I have a bible infront of me, the things it says about women is damn right discusting! Deuteronomy 22 verse 5 "A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this." What on earth is men's clothing? What is women's clothing? Technically they all the same, except ones are tailored to suit different genders. Does this mean women should not wear shirts, trousers and boxers, for these are usual men's clothing? I would like to know what was going on in whoever wrote Deuteronomy's mind.
My favourite and most random thing from the bible is God calling soldiers "women," because he thinks women are unclean and whimpy. I love the bible's rudeness, no wonder no-one truly follows it word for word :P
Romans, which is the new testiment says women should be silent in church and should not be permitted to teach. The weird thing is, at my church the women take the children for Sunday School and teach them. There's nothing wrong with that :/

you have to remember that back when the bible was written, their was a clear difference of what mens and womens clothing was. And you generally can tell nowadays anyway

Once again, when the bible was written, women had very little rights. It probably stems from the fact that women are 'unclean and ______ (forgot word)' so they would 'ruin' (if thats the right word) the child.
What you have said along with Joshuee is completely true and agree with you apart from on one thing. In catholicism, the bible states exactly what you have said and so dependign on what part of the catholic family you are you can either take it literally which would mean that you are not allowed a woman bishop or you can, well i wouldnt exactly say ignore but oh well, ignore some parts of the bible. Because time has moved on since it was written, some parts of the church change the rules of the bible to fit with society.
I dont really mind if their is a man or a woman bishop. However, as said, it does depend on what part of the church you are.
To answer an earlier question, some parts are allowed women priests, im not sure bishops are allowed yet.

What I don't understand is, you're told to follow the bible yet you can't because it's outdated and it's impossible to do aswell! Because it tells you one thing to do and then says you can't do it in another part of scripture later on. If churches change the rules by having people follow one part of the bible rather than another, that seems to discredit the bible, rather than makes it sacred and truth...

I know but what i meant to say which i forgot was the pope or someone of higher authority acknowledges the change as acceptable before its done. but anyway, WHY WONT THE CD DRIVE EJECT!!!

Still rather stange, the original bible seems to be discredited as rubbish now. It does make you think what the future holds for it, most teachings are done through what revolves round the world and basic teachings from the bible, rather than full on biblical study :P
Maybe your CD Drive is cursed :P

lol it probably is. Restarted and its fine now :)
Most of the old testament is discredited. A lot of Jesus' teachings are not and the new testament plays a large role in what catholics do today. Some would have been changed to fit the needs of society such as abortions. I believe that it is allowed to have an abortion should the women in question had been raped. And yeh lol, church has changed along with society to be more acceptable. I mean teachings of how women are all witches or whatever wouldnt exactly look appealing to us now. The way its taught has changed like what you said. Studying the bible is rarely done now. Its more active and has meaning to every day life

If the Church of England goes ahead with women Bishops it is effectively giving a two fingered salute to our Catholic and Orthodox ecumenical partners. The Church of England, whilst being reformed has always seen itself as part of the catholic whole. It is with this catholic identity that the road to unity was a possibility.
In Isaiah 3:12, we read, "As for my people, chidrn are their oppressors and woem rule over them. O my people they which lead thee cause thee to err and destroy the way of thy paths."
In other words, women leaders are not a sign of God's blessing but of his judgment on a corrupt church.
Do you see where i am coming from now?

As a Catholic, I don't believe there should be women bishops. I have traditional Catholic views, and I think why should we have women bishops or anything else that the catholic church is against, if the bible is against it? If you get what I'm saying. I mean, its a religious situation so why do unreligious things? You can't be in a religion and say 'We will have women bishops, but won't have gay marriage', if you choose to be in a religion you should stick to their views and stop changing rules to suit the world today. If you don't agree with it, don't join the religion.
Sorry if you don't get me, I will try explain more clearly if someone wants me to!
