Hey.

I am going to Alcudia on Saturday morning and am currently stressing out with all the packing lol. Me and my girlfriend are flying from Glasgow Airport but we are in a bit of deliberation about taking toiletries onboard the flight.

We have a limit of 15kilo for luggage, and a further 5kilo for hand luggage.

Obviously after all the stuff last year, there was for a time, a restriction on liquids taken on board. However, when we booked up I was told that the rules had now been relaxed and it was okay again.

Basically the thing is, my luggage is at 17kilo atm with all my toiletries inside. However, if I was to put my toiletries into my handluggage it would only be 14 - so I would be all within weight.

It says on the airport website something about they need to be less than 100ml and displayed in clear bags - but some people are telling me this is outdated and no longer the case. Also my dad went on holiday the other week and he didn't take a suitcase at all, just a small case as his handluggage which he had toiletries in and nothing was said to him.

Lol so basically - whats the deal with taking toiletries as hand luggage at the moment in the majority of airports? I understand often some airports have diff rules, but I'm looking for a general opinion...
I also am aware that you can't take aerosols and stuff...

For all help +11 rep! :)

Its not really to do with the airports anymore, I suggest searching the website for your airline first ;)

As far as I remember if you want it in your hand luggage it has to be 100ml or under (the container not the amount of liquid) so you can split it between a load of containers if you want, but it has to be in a clear plastic bag (they give you at the airport).

Thats all I know of my head hope it has helped ;)

Month or two ago with BA, but the airlines all have the rules up on their websites :)

You need to put them in plastic bags inside the hand luggage bag. An if they want to scan them seperate they will. Different at different places. But you are still not allowed drinks through security.

Well you know the saying, better to be safe than sorry. Why not just take some clothes out of it and into your luggage. Wear the heavier things when you board aswell.

I still think that the rule applies because were still sort of in a high alert on terror.

Hmmmm.

I don't care about the whole iun plastic bags bit lol, it's just with them being under 100ml as mine are all well over.

Also, I wouldn't have a bag big enough to hold enough clothes to even it out if you get me as it'll take quite a big to make up 3kilo of clothes lol.

Yea I think it is 100ml so if you find a load of 100ml containers and just distribute it between them you should be fine ;)

Just go by the airports regulations that you are departing from. Not the airline.

See this is the problem, everyone says different things so you don't know who your supposed to go with! lol The airport says one thing, the airline says another... half my mates say one thing, the other half the other and now the same with you guys!

Ah so frustrating and stressful! xD

ok, they would have updated the website if it had changed and would have been on the news that they have dropped security ;)
also is this the same page? here (http://www.glasgowairport.com/portal/controller/dispatcher.jsp?CiID=53ca5893afe5d010VgnVCM10000036 821c0a____&ChID=2800578be5532010VgnVCM100000147e120a____&Ct=B2C_CT_GENERAL&CtID=448c6a4c7f1b0010VgnVCM200000357e120a____&Ch=Security+Control&ChPath=GLA%5EAirport+Information%5ESecurity+Contro l&ChIDPath=741697dc2eb12010VgnVCM100000147e120a____^ 87c697dc2eb12010VgnVCM100000147e120a____^2800578be 5532010VgnVCM100000147e120a____)

Only limited quantities of liquids may be carried through security control as hand baggage. This includes bottled drinks, suntan lotion, fragrances, cosmetics and toiletries. The following restrictions apply to all liquids, creams, gels, pastes and aerosols taken through security control:

• Liquid items may only be carried in containers holding up to 100ml.
• They must be carried separately in a single transparent, re-sealable plastic bag.
• The bag must be no larger than 20cm x 20cm (8in x 8in) and all items must fit inside so that it closes properly.
• At security control the bag must be placed separately on the conveyor belt for screening.
Liquid items larger than 100ml should be packed in your hold luggage - otherwise they will be confiscated.
Exceptions to the 100ml rule can be made for baby food or milk. However, you should only carry what you need for the flight, and you may be asked to taste these items at security control.

As stated above, its mostly the airlines, but most have relaxed again now. To be safe though take minimal toiletries in your hand luggage.

Also have a nice trip :)

100ml is still in force and yes they must be packed in clear plastic bags. 0.1 of a kilo overweight in hold baggage proberbly will result in excess baggage charges.

Handluggage usually isn't weighed, so you maybe able to get away with a bit more.

Trust me, I fly a few times a month lmao! :P

put liquids in suitcase as well as razor blades etc. it might be ok flying out but coming back could be different as its on airport policies :) they never weigh hand luggage though unless it looks like you are struggling with it :p theres some things you use to test if its small enough in the airport. hand luggage size is more than an average size rucksack is fine :) i usually have about 10 kilo jammed in it like shoes and heavy stuff and never had it weighed :).
enjoy your trip.

I went to alcudia last year, full of germans where we stayed lol. Where are you staying?

better off putting the larger items in your handluggage and removing some from your suitcase, if you have a heavy jacket or whatever wear that on the day so you can just take it off when on board.

just wondering why your toiletries are taking up 3kilos I would suggest just taking certain items and buy the rest out there.

Could you not keep the toiletries in the luggage and take something else in hand luggage? You gotta have something other than soap that weighs a bit lol

Just put them in seperate bags in your hand luggage,
they may be checked but they won't stop you flying because of toiletries.. my mum put tooth paste and mouthwash in her hand luggage last time we flied and it was fine. :) Have a nice holiday :D

Oh lord if you're staying at a hotel they should provide such stuff :P Maybe don't bring the toiletries and just buy it from there (that is if you're not at a hotel). Yeah I think the rule is still there, it is still here in Singapore for all I know, enjoy your trip :D

I don't think they actually care if you're a few pounds over. Whenever I fly they never weigh or check my bags because I don't usually take shampoo or liquids with me and I declare everything in my bags. Just pack what you need and keep it to a minimum.

I took a full bottle of Shockwaves Gel, full bottle of lynx shower gel and all sorts in my hand luggage and they knicked it ;(

I was last on a plane in March and all liquids had to be less than 100ml and in a clear resealable bag.

Just keep them in your luggage and pay the over-weight fees?
