Okay, since its summer ive decided to start a project. It will be a teen based site which delivers global news along with national and possibly local (ie, leicestershire, lancashire etc) should it get popular. It wont only be a news site. It should provide users with teenage views on gadgets, movies, tv programmes, books, games anything. I thought to myself that all the reviews that are done on websites and in magazines are probably done by 30 year olds and dont particularly know what we as teenagers like. It could put people off buying things that are actually really good for teens.

Moving on swiftly.. I dont have a name at this moment in time but im always thinking. The design is below showing two colour options. I would like to incorporate a user system that will allow the user to change to whatever hex code they like. I WILL need some help with this, mainly coding the php and other tthings that are not HTML and CSS related (im fine with them).

If their are any suggestions to what can be improved then please feel free to speak out (but only constructively) and if their are any names that you think are cool, not necessarily related to what the site will be, you get the jist.

That's what I told him on MSN to try and spruce up the colours, he did a red & orange I believe (as advised xD)

Excellent

Light Blue is the best.

Why not get a style changer so visitors can pick.

Looks alright ;)

Try not to use 'smooth'-text on font-sizes like 12 to 14/16 px.. it gives a wrong image of what it really will look like

Also, theres something about those text-balloons that seems odd to me, not sure what but they don't look in place to me

And I like the blue one ;) (blue one in last reply u did)

It was actually sharp because i think it gives a better represntation of what it looks like than what none does :)

Ill try and work on the balloons :)

Thanks

THEM LAYOUTS ARE LOVELY!

If you could give a hex color chooser, I'd be on that site straight away.. Although it reminds me of BBC.

No problem, & looking at it again, perhaps try and put some more black into the design, as the theme-color is overwhelming.., the black would have some more change in the colors, as too much is colored imo.

I would personally go for:
- Shades of black (or gradients)
- Shades of light-gray (or again gradients)
- And theme-color

EDIT: And theres also no harm in any-color icons ;) meaning if you do put icons on there (small ones), you don't have to make them green.
Ex. the 'vote'/'rate' stars, I would keep them gold'ish/yellow :)

just some thoughts x]

i was thinking the same thing oli, the colour is too much and im going to think of ways to reduce it. The icons like the stars wouldnt change. Ill play around with some colours to what looks best with a lot of colours. Ive already given you +rep, thanks for the great c + c

No problem ;)

Perhaps you could leave the rate-stars green but on:hover they turn gold ?

And as I said, try some light-gray shades & some more black :)
Or whatever you think will look good ;)

the ratings of the movies are from what the team at the site would have done, on the page their will be a place where users can vote so ill do that their :)

As someone else said.
You could make a hex colour chooser for the background and a base colour, if you understand me?
