Hi just wondering how I'd set up my CD/DVD drive. I have the power cable and the IDE cable plugged in and it opens but when I put any cd in it doesnt pick up on my computer?

Just wondering if theres any more cables I have to plus in or something
Thanks.

Did you plug the IDE cable in the right way round?

Yes I did. It only goes in one way.

No, i mean swap the ends round. One end should be red and the other should be black or grey. The black/grey part goes into your motherboard and the red part goes into the device

One end is blue and the other 2 are black and grey.

The blue end should be in your motherboard. Is this a drive you've added in addition to, or one that's replacing an older drive?

Its a drive which I had in my old drive before I switched to my new case.

Ok, if there is no other device using the same IDE cable then make sure the disc drive id plugged into the end socket on the cable and not the middle one.

Are your hard drive(s) IDE or sata and is there more than one IDE port on your motherboard?

SATA and there is only 1 IDE port.

Well then i don't think i can help much further. I'm assuming you've not changed the jumpers on the drive, so the only other thing is either something is not plugged in properly or the drive is broken. Or maybe even the disc doesn't work. You tried right clicking the drive in my computer and ejecting?

Yes I can eject and it's powered but every CD i put in it wont pick up.
The disk drive is picked up in my computer but not the disc that is in the drive.

My conclusion would be the disc drive being broken.

It was fine in my other case though.

Static?

Did you touch the pins or drop it when moving cases?

No and I earthed myself before doing it.
