Hey guys,
I want to go into the Business & Finance area as a career and these are the AS-Levels I have picked...
Economics
Geography
Maths
Politics
What do you guys think?
The specification has changed for them for subjects so I have ordered new 2008 specification revision guides from my local library to learn about them alittle bit motr and have a head-start in college :)
Also I am reading books on Tycoons I admire on there Biographies like Duncan Bannatyne, Theo Paphitis and Sir Alan Sugar!
I think I will also enjoy these Subjects especially Mathematics, The other 3 are completely new for me which looked interesting to me.
Thanks
Amit

A good choice of A-levels there, as all four of those choices convey different sets of skills (eg - Economics is a social science and therefore more theoretical which can portray yourself as a logical person, whilst Politics is an essay based subject, so it shows a potential university that you have good written skills).
Hope this helps :) (from one TSR member to another!)

They're good, relevant but varied choices, all held in high regard by universities.

By the way, which subjects are you doing at A-level?

exactly, business studies would be the most obvious choice, but if your aiming high for a decent university too then the subjects you've chosen are great.

Buisness studies isn't actually the obvious choice as Economics is much more general and incorporates much more into it from politics and macro economics which are more usefull... (even if the two subjects are just variations of each other lol)

What, that makes no sense. He said he wants to go into business and finance area, so business studies would be the obvious choice, i'm agreeing and saying it might not be the best one.
And anyway yeah, academically they're good subjects but damn, i've just finished As economics and it's unbelievably boring, i'm dropping it next year.
Maths is fairly easy, if your getting A's or A*'s at gcse you shouldn't have a problem.
I don't do Geography but a few of my mates do and they said it's a big step up from gcse and there's alot more to remember, i'm planning on picking it up as an AS next year too ;)
Politics, iv'e no idea.
