I'm really interested in photography (who isn't these days?) but whatever anyway, I want a good camera which will take good photos.
Like a canon camera or something, I have no idea what i'm looking for and I know some of you do, so please help me:)
Thanks

Don't get a Canon, get a Nikon, preferably a D50. Nikons are what most photographers use and there is a difference with reds between a Nikon and Canon. Canons can't really differenciate between darkreds and reds from say, a poppy flower. They will just show it as a red blodge and the shadows inbetween the petals and slightly darker blurs, rather than rich colours that contrast between the two.
So anyway, Nikon :P A Nikon D-50 is very good for a starting camera.
How much you looking to spend?

Erm, I don't have a budget. Just no silly prices like £1,000

My canon is perfectly fine :P It gives me great shots, such as these(you can remove the time stamp just so you know)

I use the Canon 400D D-SLR, however if you are looking to get into photography, getting an SLR straight away is NOT the best idea. I reccomend getting a Fujifilm S5700 as a starter camera, that is what I used, and I am now learning my D-SLR.
Panasonic TZ-5 trather than a D-SLR for a beginner. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145326

If you want to get into photography and not 'snapping', then you do not want a total compact.. you do want something like a Fujifilm Finepix. A compact camera is for a snapper ;)

can you be quiet with the snapper thing, some of your photos are "snapper" if you want me to be honest with you so please don't bother.

Please stop with this snapper crap, "snapping" doesn't exist, it's just some made up term used by photographers trying to make their work look better than it really is  When I go to a photography gallery, I look at photos, not snaps...
I suggest going straight in with an SLR, if you want to go into photography where you are in control with your focus and angles, which you won't with these compact/auto-focus cameras. There's no reason not to, and you'll learn all you need to learn with an SLR straight away. You won't learn how to use an SLR without an SLR, which is what Darren seems to be suggesting...

£300-500 will get you a Canon 400D with 2 lenses and a few other things, but like I said before, I do NOT reccomend it for starting out.

You don't recommend much to "Start Out" If you want to get a D-SLR then get one, don't listen to him :D

Indeed, Alex wants to try an D-SLR, yet Darren says not to... Surely if you want to try something you must try it, and not something completely different? SLRs aren't even hard to use :/ They're easier than those annoying cameras that don't let you control the focus or the zoom other than electronically, and they're terrible...
