I was originally supposed to be getting a screening of this this past weekend, but it was called off, just my luck. I now know that it will be this Thursday that I get to see it. Cannot wait and it's the film I've been most anticipating all year, am exceptionally glad of its two-and-a-half hour running time.
It's been creating quite a stir in America with all bookings full nationwide and even midnight and 3am screenings being made to accomodate for the huge amount of people wanting to see it as soon as it's released.
What are you thoughts about it? It's going to be the most successful film of the year I'm sure.

Is this the new Batman Movie?? I'm not really a big fan of Batman but the trailer did make me laugh...
Rumours that Harry Potter 6 trailer is on it have been proven wrong which is a shame (it's just a 15 second preview apparently). :)

I just got back from it. Oh my Christ, it is an absolute masterpiece. Finally, a film that lives up to its immense hype. The story is told fantastically, the performances are outstanding - Heath's last performance is by far his best - with an incredibly dark character in the Joker. Absolutely 5 stars, I cannot recommend it enough if you've seen Batman Begins. It's dark, dark, dark, I absolutely loved it. I know it's pretty much fully booked in the UK nationwide, but see it as quick as you can if you are a fan of the first, I know I am going to see it a second time, and it'll be worth every penny. It was personally, for me, the most anticipated film of 2008, and it has become the greatest film of 2008. I am dumb-founded by its excellence. July 25th and onwards, GO AND SEE IT, or tomorrow if you're in the States. Don't survey the internet for some damn pirate copy, this just has to be seen in the cinema. Un-freakin'-believable.

It doesn't even matter if you haven't seen the first. I saw it a couple of days ago and I hadn't really seen the first one I just knew the general Batman things (that most people know anyway) and even if you don't know you'll pick it up fine.
Definately one of the best movies I've seen and make sure you see it in a cinema or at least on a big projection with very high quality sound. Don't ruin it for yourselves.

OHHHHHHHH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDD, this was such an amazing movie. Probably the best movie i've seen EVER. Seriously, do yourself a huge favour and go see this movie, you will NOT be disappointed. The Joker is perfection, Heath Ledger deserves an oscar for this not because of sympathy due to his death, but because it is actually a riveting performance.
The pencil dissapearing scene is a classic!
Oh my God, I need to see this. 5 stars everywhere!

Oh my god, this was easily one of the best movies i've ever seen. Heath Ledger's performance was pure brilliance, it was the type of performance in which you couldn't wait for him to come on screen again. I agree with Misawa though, Two-Face looked rather silly but I thought it was cool nonetheless.

I'm meant to be going to the cinema this Friday, so I might try and get tickets then. I looked on the Odeon websit and it seems to be the only thing showing throughout the next week? I'm sure that's wrong though, and they just haven't updated or something.

Again, I havent seen any Batman movies,
I think the bank robbery at the beginning is really intense and shows the watchers that they are going to have an action packed film ahead!
The 2h30mins went really fast and before i knew it, it was 7PM!
The Joker, Heath Ledger was exceptional, a top villain.
Although it wasnt as good as I expected it to be, if Batman actually killed people with stunts and fists, it would really top it off.
The make up, storyline and costumes were well good aswell, with Harvey Dent's face when he gets blown up
and the jokers make up, getting smudged more and more to the end, and always licking his bottom lip.

heath ledger was the best part about it, i loved his part as the joker, maybe not AS good as jack nicholson's portrayal in the originals, but amazing nevertheless.
i loved the whole
pencil disspearing into the guy's head 'trick'
and the batcar/bike thing. especially when batman
drove straight into the wall and turned around
ah, it was such a good film, a little too long perhaps, but i loved every second of it.
while not THE best film i have seen this year, (iron man was so much better imo, but i reckon that's because i LOVE iron man) it is definitely one of the best.
Misawa
28-07-2008, 07:32 PM
Nicholson was only in Tim Burton's first as he dies at the end. I much preferred Heath's Joker, the interpretation of the character was just so much darker and evil.
As good as Iron Man was, I feel that The Dark Knight crushed it, the story was just told so much better, and the performances of Heath and Eckhart blew Downey Jr. away.

Saw this today at a local independent cinema and I must say this film deserves all the praise that it has so far received and then some. Having first seen the 152 minute running time I thought it might drag on abit in places but that certainly wasn't the case having never had my thoughts drift for the entire duration other than to utter the odd word to the people I went to see it with. I thought Heath Ledger was truly amazing, he has managed to add such depth to the character and really was the star of this epic, he deserves full recognition for his performance, despite his demise. It's going to be very hard to follow this up with something even better, they've certainly got a challenge on their hands with that.

She is not used to him saving her. Mary-Jane is used to Spider-man saving her, and even Lois Lane with Superman so it would be okay for them, but not Maggie. If she was so used to him saving her, why does she scream when she's falling, when he's right above her?

I guess you can't count on your knight in shining armour coming along everytime and let's face it falling off a building is a scarey experience. It would have been more unrealistic to have her falling and not screaming. Although I did find this a little strange myself I probley wasn't paying close enough attention to what was going on at the time so her reaction was probley right for the situation.

Not at all - her reaction when saved was sufficient enough, but of course she would scream when falling - adds terror. If she didn't, the drama would not nearly shoot up.

That would be an alright choice.
David Tennant suits more dramatic roles, he can't act like a villain so I can guess he could be a good guy in the next one... that's if Nolan chooses to direct it or something.
Misawa
31-07-2008, 01:54 PM
Nolan will pen and direct the third.
A script will not have even have a word on it yet for another sequel, so those rumours are completely false. Also, The Riddler is probably the worst character in the history of the franchise, so they better had not bring him in. I'm glad there will never be a Robin as long as Nolan and Bale are involved with the films.
I Believe in Harvey Dent. I Believe He is Still Alive.
