ok ive no clue what happened, but last night my virus scanner started up and was fine until it reached the 700k file mark. then it went mental, the viruses were going up like 5 a second, all trojan horses. i tried to remove them but they were multiplying to fast, so i took all my important files off and turned down the laptop hoping they wouldnt be able to keep growing. as i left it there were about 3900 trojan horses, whats the best thing to do ?

It looks like the trojan has spread. quite rapidly.
Firstly i'd make sure youre using a legit virus scanner, because some of them through up fake numbers and make you buy the real version.
Also dont confuse cookies with viruses, because most of them are ok but are detected by some virus scanners like Mcafee and AVG

lets the virus scan run and then remove them all at the end - its better than turning your laptop off lmao

yh i had to turn off cos it was late and the files were multiplying faster than my scanner could scan :S
Get Ad-Aware, it should solve your problems

I had a problem like this, My virus scanner went mental with virus's. It would remove them all but then more would pop up. In the end I just backed up all my files and reinstalled my OS. Since then its been fine :)

Great firewall, also has an amazing rating from cNET.
There the ones i reccomend.
And if you're using nortan/mcafee get rid of it, they just hog memory, and arnt the best by any means

There must be a process that is multiplying the viruses, open processes on crtl+alt+del end the process and then do a scan.
