Hey, basically I have my laptop and it has xampp running, with apache. I have a "site" which I can view at http://localhost. My brother has a laptop and I want him to be able to access it too, somehow. He'd have to type something else in of course... now, the easy way would be to use the internet (to allow him to access it) but that's not possible due to no internet at my mums. I have a BT Home Hub router at my mums house (which can be connected to wirelessly), and an ethernet cable.

How would I be able to get it so he can access the site/my laptop from his? I connected them both to the router and I got the IP 192.168.1.65, which when entered into his browser lead to the BT Home Hub page.

I'm pretty crap at this stuff so any help would be great.

Tom.

Thats only if he wants it to be available via the Internet. No need to port forward for internal connections.

Enter your local IP address not your external address to access the site.

Your local IP address is not accessible on the internet. ;)

If your both connected to the internet, you could make a wierd / wireless network, like you would normaly do..
Connect the two pc's with cable then set up the network using the network wizard In my network places, then just go through each others files.

Sorry for double post, but ive asked some friends and they have said:

COnnect both PC's up onto the PC, enable sharing on both pc's and put files into Shared and then go to your system infomation and somewhre there you can give yourself a computer name, do this for both..

Then go to start >> Run then type \\(computername)

Im not sure if this will work, but if your using a wirless router and the router local address is 192.168.1.1, you are 192.168.1.2 and your brother is 192.168.1.3 then your brother could just go to http://192.168.1.2 .

Would my idea work if you wierd them together?

ok.

connect them to the router through wires or whatever.

then go to run -> type in cmd -> then ipconfig

then on the other computer go to that IP address and voila, your site SHOULD appear.

note - you are not technically accessing through the internet, but through your router.
