I don't think breed should matter, just let the dog aproach you, thats what I do when choosing any animal.

Erm, depends what you want. If you want a playful one, with lots of energy, I suggest a Border Collie, I have one :D

But like if you want a calm one, you could go for a smaller breed :)

But if you get one, get a mixed colour one. Mixed colour dogs have better nature.

Really you need to go and look at dogs, see what type you like and your drawn too. You don't want a uncontrollable dog which you don't like. Oh and get a pedigree make sure its not a cross breed as they are worth more.
If i had to choose i would pick a Staff.
