ALICIA KEYS WINS BOND THEME?

Alicia Keys has signed up to sing the title song for the new James Bond movie.

According to E!, the American R&B singer has impressed the producers of Quantum Of Solace.

"I believe Alicia is the winner," said an insider.

Amy Winehouse,Beyonce, Mark Ronson, Leona Lewis, Jack White, Duffy, Duran Duran and Annie Lennox have all been linked to the movie's soundtrack in recent months.If this is true.. I'm glad she got it, she's talented and I can imagine the theme being something with huge dramatic production like "Karma" except at an even higher level than that. Still would have preferred Beyonce but at least it's not Amy Winehouse who'd be too cracked out to sing or Leona WHO HASN'T DONE ENOUGH TO DESERVE IT (same with Duffy)..

You never know though, these sites & magazines make up utter crap most of the time.



I can see a lot of people being annoyed with this, but talent wise she deserves it. She writes her own music, plays the piano and provides a very different take on R&B/Soul. I'm glad for her.

So what? A TV show only takes you so far. What happened to Steve Brookstein? Shayne Ward had some success but where is he now? Leona had and has the talent to carry her throughout her career without fault due to extreme natural ability. The fact is she had far more catchy songs but her recent material is nothing compared to her earlier. Leona writes her own songs too, hey she might have SOME assistance but where is her credit? So Alicia can play a piano, once you learn you've got it down but she's no Stevie Wonder. All Leona does is sing? Please. She can play several instruments and her voice excells Alicia's, and she doesn't sound as if she's in pain. Leona can even have tonsilitis and make a live performance sound effortless but still magnificent, I doubt Alicia could.

If this is true, they've picked lots of artists over eachother, it doesn't mean they know what they're doing now. They're being indecisive.

Yes Alicia Key's album was such a flop it sold 700,000 copies in the US first week, largest first week sales for any R&B female.

She does have creative control? She's an experienced writer and she started writing at a very young age. Giving a vocalist complete control creatively would be the worst move you could make in this industry. You don't know what sort of reception an artist will get so all artists start off with some assistance so that they have something to fall back on if their own material doesn't appeal to the fans. But all of the songs she wrote appealed to fans and critics.

Eamonn and I are defending her because her deserving talent appears to be oblivious to people criticising her.

I don't see how Alicia Keys has done such an amazing thing to deserve the role either. If this rumour hadn't have been posted, absolutely nobody of the public would have guessed her as a candidate for the role. Leona would have been because she doesn't fade to the back of your memory like the likes of Alicia do. Yeah she's had one album, her first album with extreme success. Combine that success with her extraordinarily natural ability with her vocals, she deserves it 100%.

She's only released two singles here officially and yeah the second flopped because all promotion was called off due to laringytus and it's hardly radio friendly anyway - and if you're a true "music debatee" then you'd agree with that. It's a lot too soulful for the UK market, but got to #12 in the US.

Hopefully Superwoman will get a release and some promotion here.

Sorry, I disagree. Tracks like "Superwoman", "Like You'll Never See Me Again", "Wreckless Love", "No One" and "Lesson Learned" in my opinion are some of the best work she has ever done. A lot of the stuff isn't uptempo but it doesn't need to be when it's so lyrically and musically strong.

As for Back To Basics I actually liked a majority of that album. It was too long though, but what do you expect from a double disc album.
