How to get scratches out of a guitar?

I bought this cheap second hand guitar from my friend its a real nice guitar but theres this big scratch on it(thats why it was cheap) and I was wondering if there was anyway I could get it off like smooth it out or something?

I darent try anything incase i mess it up then the guitar looks even worse.
