I just got a PS3 and im tryna use SIXAXIS with sega rally but when I tilt or move it it does nothing, any help?

What is SIXAXIS exactly?
is it like if you turn the controller, the car or whatever will turn too?

It's sorta like motion sensing, but more in a tilting way
