Well after a few problems, while I was on vacation.. (of all times) we had a few problems.

Enough about that, all should be back to normal shortly :)

I have developed an entirely new system, with brand new coding, brand new methods after attending a PHP conference on vacation about securing user file uploads.

I have started developing a user system to go alongside the site.

You can still upload files without registering, but you can also upload files as a user and keep track of them, organize them into albums.

This is about a day's work, so it is not that much. I'll be adding more daily.

Sorry about the tackiness, I am not a designer :P

Here is a little bit describing each thing.

This page allows you to upload an image to the album of your choice. Choosing -- No Album -- sends it to the default album. More on that later.

Here is the main page, that shows all your albums. As you notice the first album is the default album, this is where all your images that are not sent to an album go.

You can set albums to have display pictures also.

Here is the screen that shows you the file information about the file you just uploaded, as well as takes you back to that album:

This is the page where it takes you when you open up an album. It displays all the pictures, and allows you to delete the album, or upload to it.

It is also paginated, newest photos first.

Thing is, they are not in a hierarchy, meaning you go inside the album to view the files. There is a move feature though.

I don't want to start throwing a bunch of AJAXy effects in now :P

Thanks to the help of my lovely friend Matt (Source/GasFMatt [however he spelled it? ha]) have 'spiced up' some of the pages, everyone knows I suck at CSS and design! :)

I have also added a breadcrumb to the top of the page, which allows for easier navigation, and I mean easier :P

I have also added a 'toolbox' which was designed by Matt, the albums have also changed to a solid border, and include the album title over them.

I then created another thread disclosing information about how users could participate in the BETA of the usersystem, which goes back to this thread.

It isn't that hard to understand, I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.

Thanks guys, here's a little update.

Just so you know, the account control panel will replace the little introductory area at the top, and say if the user wanted to change his/her password the page would load where the upload your images bit is.

But that's just how I see it working, it's up to you. After-all it's your website! :)

I have also added some little messages around the site, so when you click upload, it displays a nice loading box, as well as watermarking.

Watermarking quite a requested feature.

Here is an example of the new watermarking feature:

You can set the opacity, image, position, tiling.

To do this:

1. Create an album called 'Watermarks' ( no quotes )

2. Upload your watermark into this album, remember the filename, and remember it needs to be transparent.

3. Proceed to the file which you wish to watermark, and along the 'Image Tools' toolbox, select 'Watermark'

4. Select your watermark in the drop down box, and set the properties below.

5. Wait a few moments while your image is generated and written.

Forgot to note, please note that this is not my layout, I was just watermarking it.

Caleb lost the data after it was lost, he didn't decide to delete it - it was an error and the last backup he had was with around 2000 images, of which are still there and able to be linked.

We don't care about your image host, plus this thread is about the user system only.

I did not delete any image, and I never have deleted any image other then TOS abusing images.

No image has been deleted, and are still in the original images folder. The server had a breach while I was on vacation, and the entire OS container was removed, that included backups.

We now have an alternative off-site backup solution, automated backups, and are making sure this shouldn't happen again.

Don't start ****, when you don't know ****. We don't care about your image host.

Photobucket got hacked last month was down for a few days they didn't lose one image, You've closed and reopened and been hacked and you lost images, this is one reason not to use you, you upload images and one year later they are gone.

Photobucket got hacked last month was down for a few days they didn't lose one image, You've closed and reopened and been hacked and you lost images, this is one reason not to use you, you upload images and one year later they are gone.



I tryed to delete me account and i got another link to active it. Think you need a bit of a recoding.

I still have those images, and they are stored on the server still.. the difference was the technology used for storing those images was actually storing them as a blob in the database. That database is still there, but I am not re-coding the script to view them.

The images before the server being breached, are still there, they would all be there.. except the backups that were stored on the server were also removed, as well as the operating system in the container.

Don't make an argument when you have no idea what you are talking about.



Your argument of TinyPic over ImageShack is redundant - my point is why use an unprofessional site that has already died once, with software that (I presume, but haven't checked) isn't open source and has no extra features to these professional sites. - Thank you, i agree 100%

Why jQuery? Scriptaculous is better in my opinion, especially for uploading animations with ajax requests.

But that is ONLY a personal preference.

It's not a security hole aslong as he filters it correctly, which we know he does.

There isn't a point for fancy effects, that ruins the purpose of TehUpload being simple.

Why would I put an animation on uploading an image, that sounds pretty stupid. Plus jQuery's animations are not near the quality of MooTools or Scriptaculous.

Sorry to be posting off topic but I would be worried about the security of the site if you made an API as you would not have the correct knowledge to give functionality with secrity.

The issue I have with file upload management panels is they are to "clunky".

It that I mean click, click, click...

I was one one not to long ago that was fantastic, very smooth. Cant remember what it was called, Ill try find it for you for ideas.

If I was you, coding this I would think out of the box. Dont go for what all the other sites do, make it smooth. ;)
