Is there anyway to connect my computer to my tv so whatever I do that would normally appear on the monitor would actually appear on the tv screen?

Yes, I have a similar similar to this. I have a video card with 2 DVI outputs and an S-VIDEO out, one for my main monitor and I use the S-Video for my TV. I used a S-Video to RCA (yellow) converter then ran that cable to a scart box (RCA to SCART Converter) which then goes to my tv along with my sky box and DVD player so I can chose the use of the screen. Diagram (as I don't think I described it very well):

I don't know, it's just a flat screen AS tv. Sorry for not being much help but I thought this would be as simple as getting a certain cable and connecting it all up >.<

Well now we have enough information it is ;).
You will need a cable like this

Just double chock on the TV that there is a socket that looks something like this first.

That's a good thing though, I have my TV set to 800x600 and it's 20 inches so even terrible quality videos look like DVD quality on it.
What do the ports on your TV and graphics card look like, you don't need VGA on your TV to do it, SCART, RCA or S-VIDEO could do it easily.
