View Full Version : First Layout in Photoshop

This is my first time using photoshop, I've tried to make a sorta layout that doesn't make me look like an idiot. Atleast I haven't used habbo fonts :P
I've really only designed habbo layouts before, so you could say this is my first non-habbo layout also. Layout designing is something that I want to start to do and improve my skills with. I only just got photoshop a few days ago so that was probably a good start. I've only messed around on it once before where I selected the rainbow gradient and clicks lots of times producing a hippy-attracting image. Anyway, here's my layout. Constructive comments please, I don't think it's good enough to sell ;)

It's not bad for your first - but it is a pretty bad layout.
First of all: you need a colour scheme. Pick a couple colours that you want to base your design off of. This design has all these different colours, which look horrible together.
Don't have a black background, it looks pretty gross on the type of design your making.
I'm not going to give a full 'analysis' on the design, as I'm quite tired. All I can say is it's not bad for your first. Keep messing around in Photoshop, reading tutorials etc. And you will get a lot better.

Ok change of colours is obviously needed, if it was a proper design I would have had a look at what colours go well with each other. However, what's wrong with the black background?

It just doesn't go with the layout, it clashes.

What colour would you suggest? Out of interest?

White, or a grey. (those are the colours I usually use)

To be honest, forget trying to improve it and start all over again.

I don't think it's that bad... I'm sure if I changed the colour scheme it would look remarkably better.
It's a layout with no particular theme, so without cool/special graphics on it (depending on a theme) it can't really be that great.

Try a light blue and white with a light green.

Not too keen, sorry.
I don't think big layouts (fat) go down well anymore, but hey.. Photoshop is one of the best, if not the best graphic editing program's, so maybe give it another go.
