View Full Version : Mic probs [+rep]
Hey
Another prob from my bro (saves him registering on here  ), he's been having probs with his mic, hes even got another one and whenever he speaks on air it's all glitchy? He's currently using SAM3 and he was thinking is there anything in the settings he needs to adjust?
+rep for any suggestions & anyone who solves the prob, he'll get you a month of VIP

aha.
I normally sort out these problems within 10 minutes if i can see the screen of his Sam 3, so i can see all the settings
The Most Common would be
-Red Button pressed on enconder instead of Blue
-Volume Control, via start, accesseries, entertainment - Click Recording then make sure Microphone is ticked

No plugins, I uninstalled all the sam's on his computer including mysql, cleared out everything & then installed it again and it sitll doesn't work.
The microphone isn't USB it's erm i don't know what it's called, it's what you put into headphones? A jack?
so he decided to move to sam3 after all ? :P
He had to, couldn't fix sam2

checked all of them, all correct. Also he uses vista so don't think that would apply to him - the second option.
Let me know what you need a screenshot of, you weren't specific of what :P

If you could post print screens that would help
-General Sam Page
-Voice FX Config
-Input Control such as volume
I'm on XP so i might not be able to sort it, but im sure it'll help other people help you when they see the thread :)

I'm currently using XP, but I recently bought a computer with Vista on it and had the same problem.
It's nothing to do with the mic settings, actually. Like you stated in your first post, on air, you can hear him, but it's all "glitchy".
To fix this (this is what I did), I adjusted the buffer settings. You want to make the maximum latency either higher or lower, but neither too much. I think I put mine around 70 some where.
After doing so, be sure to File > Save Config.
This worked for me, so hopefully it does for you too. :)

Umm open your sound thing through start menu > search for sound and click it.
Then goto the recording tab and click microphone then click properties and goto advanced and edit the default format drop down menu to a higher quality and see if that makes any diff.
Liz, on the VOICE FX Box
