Host: Hello Jean-Baptiste Géraud. You are president of Sulake France. Sulake is a company that develops games, and is responsible for maintaining Habbo. Habbo is a game like… Does a society virtual teen?

Gaby: Habbo is a virtual world for teenagers around 15 years. It was launched in France 4 years ago and has nearly 6 million registered accounts and some 500,000 active. The peculiarity is that it is a game without a game. Here we must not kill anybody, nor add points or goals to achieve. The aim of each user will emerge, exist within the game. If the school tried agrupados en groups with friends, here try to be the most famous Habbo, which has more friends, or who owns more messages…

Presenter: Are You could say that Habbo is Second Life for children and adolescents?

Gaby: We can say that… But it must be said that Habbo was launched earlier than Second Life… And Habbo has more users in France in the Second Life world.

Gaby: There are all kinds. There are young "no life", who have no friends or who are acomplejado because we were all in their teens. In Habbo we are all equal, you are handsome, ugly, thin or fat. Presenter: Is Sulake has some way to retain them?

Gaby: No, no one forces them to stay. We propose to create a life… and I also agree to introduce Habbo a mother as a social virtual world, and she told me that if 12 hours to be stuck Habbo was social. And of course, we must not be 12, 15, 16 hours in Habbo. You can enter a little on Habbo, but then we must go out with friends, etc…

Host: Do you have teams of moderators in case something happens?

Gaby: Sure, Habbo universe is a moderate 24 / 7 moderated by professional moderators, and I emphasise the professionals. In the middle of the night, there are at least a moderator to ensure online users. Habbo is a community against violence.

Host: What is the difference Habbo with other virtual worlds?

Gaby: In France we are lucky to be alone, so competition could be Second Life, but every day is losing share, and actually, never attracted to adolescents. There is also a page called Dofus, which is very similar to World of Warcraft, which is more of a role play. So, in France, as Habbo, nothing.

Host: Well, important question. Habbo Is it free? Should we download it?

Gaby: Habbo is free. Access is free. 90% of people play for free, and only 10% is spent only € 10 per month to buy virtual furniture with which furnish his room.

Host: Well, finally. Any innovation that will Habbo soon?

Gaby: Habbo brings 8 years with the same aspect, since it was launched. We plan to launch a new version with many impressive developments in 2009, but I can not say more

There is a new version coming out. Dont expect much of an update graphically though..

This is good and bad news. Some people will yearn for the classic Habbo (now) because they do that already.. And of course..


take Habbo out of the Hotel and into the world.

If you're right.. That would be extremely interesting. :O I just figured something out.. They're doing the 'Around The World' furni.. And you say 'into the world'. I think I'm looking too deep into this though.. We'll just have to see.

Im sorry but where does it say it's Habbo 2? Just because they're releasing a new version don't neccessarily mean it's going to be of the similar nature of the screenshots of "Habbo 2" leaked a few years ago.

I remember way back when TFH2 was about, there was a few pics about it released then.

Hopefully there will be some drastic changes. Habbo really needs to reinvent itself to attract more customers.

It's slowly developing into a social network, which is why the reason for the homes etc.

Habbo Player will come soon and all these changes will re-invent Habbo from what it was because at the moment it's gaining about as many active users as it's loosing.

It won't be anything drastic like a 3D Habbo or anything like that because the 2.5D aspect is what makes Habbo what it is.

people just arent buying cedits anymore like they used to. Habbo have to try and make money in other ways. Like the 1000 movie liscences they have atm. So habbo is constantly trying to reinvent itself into something new. I personally believe Offclient is the way ther looking unfortunately.

Not considering in the interview it said "We plan to launch a new version" which doesn't mean a new thing.

Sulake already make enough money with IRC-Galleria and Habbo so it's hardly going to be something else.

if they do this wrong they'll lose LOADS of money.
jagex did it really well with runescape by making sure it would run on the average computer. hopefuly sulake make the right decision about this.

The update will be making the full client web based.

So now you have to use your imagination. So if some one moves to a spot, you wont see the move, it will just say "*Jack has moved to square 12,4*".
That seams to be where Habbos going :(

That video is in french btw. It's just it says habbos.es. He also said 'Sulake France' so yeah.

I'm not sure how this is going to turn out. It seems like it is tuning into Second Life like they said.

I don't know why everyone is worried and sceptical about Habbo expanding into the Second Life/WoW area of social networking/gaming. I would personally love to see a Habbo off-site client that could utilize better graphics (and better sound, etc...) especially seeing as if they move the game from on-site to off-site they could easily expand the game to make it a whole world of Habbo rather than a hotel.

BUT, if they are planning to move to a more 3d Habbo I hope they do have beta testing before to make sure it's as good as it should be - so it's not a let down.

In my opinion 'Habbo 3D' will never compete with Second Life, Second life is so good because its full over usermade content which has built up since it was launched many years ago, scripts and objects are all usermade. Habbo just couldnt compete with that, Linden almost have a monopoly on it. I do think Habbo could do with a graphical update however, maybe similar to club tropicas style. I think to keep their large fanbase they need to keep the same concept that made it so popular or we will be seeing thousands of 'Riot in da theatredrome now!!1!1!!111'

That would be good if it becomes going outside the hotel.. Although the name might just change from habbo hotel to just habbo.
