I'm not sure but seeming as it's a radio device they may say it'll interfere with the aircraft

But yeah i know about all the interfearing!

Still... listening to the atc whilst in the airport or on the plane won't quite add up in the eyes of sairport security

Well looking at Adam's photos from a while back he took his scanner onto a RyanAir flight. Where will you be heading to? I'm sure it be ok to take it with you as long as you don't have it on within the aircraft and they fully understand what it is and has been scanned through machines to check it isn't a bomb. Best bet is to contact the airline your flying on?

I'm going to the Dominican republic with Thomson, from manchester.

It's going through security that bugs me more than anything, as i don't want to have it taken away and not have anything to do with it apart from loose it!

Dominican Republic security is lax as anything. Coming back out of the country, the European flights and American flights went through different securities - American was completely over the top and the European didn't even bother looking at our bags as it went through. You'll have no problem getting it back to England.

And secruty at Manchester is pretty strict, though they are reasonable if you explain - just gotta have a real good reason why you want to keep it. It is kinda sketchy, but then again, you are a teen and they'll use their individual judgement on that.

I flew to the Dominican with Thomson, it's a great flight. Comfy, entertaining and flight times are great.

Shouldn't be... They allow PS2s, radios, toasters, gas masks (including filters), wooden stalls and any other interesting things a few friends have put through them. As long as it isn't dangerous, they won't care.

I have been going there for the past four - five years, and when it became strict here it also did there, you'd be suprised. But it's getting it out of manchester that concerns me most. They always seem to be grumpy gits in there minus the odd few. I have had the armed police looking through my bag on two occasions :@

;o What have you been taking? They should be ok since they do have an Aviation Park and most of them know what a Scanner does. But meh, good luck I guess.

Depends which guards you get Is uppose, some might be really mardy and say you shouldn't be listening in on them, some will be alright with it, Check with your airline.

Haha, Well I rather have them searching things for some weird devices that may harm members of the public :P At least there doing their job I suppose. :P

Yes, you can take your scanner through security. I've taken mine many times and not once been questioned, once it was taken to be searched for explosives and nobody even questioned it.

However, there is the very slim chance that you could cause yourself all kinds of problems because technically you could be using it for a terrorism purpose and you don't have the correct licence to use a scanner.. However, that chance is very small and as I say nobody has questioned me.

I'd say go ahead and take it! :)

Not unless you actually have a R/T licence yourself. It's perfectly fine to use your instructors R/T licence when he is with you - But if he's not, no chance! :P
