How do I do this? Whenever I put a blank dvd into the computer to burn a movie onto it, it tells me it's a cd. :(

What program are you using to burn the movie?
Have you made sure your putting the blank dvd into a DVD-RW and not a CD-RW?

I don't have any programs because I don't know which I need and there is only one place to put the disc.

I'm a noob when it comes to this.

There's an easy to use program called DVDFlick.

You select the film you want from your computer then you can decide on the size, menus, when you want chapters and options to put subtitles on.

It's rly good for freeware :D

It is a CD, DVDs are the same as CDs until you tell your computer to burn it as a DVD Disc. There's DVD Discs & Data Discs, CD is the latter... Meh doubt you wanted to know that, but it sounds like you haven't got a CD-ROM drive which burns data onto disc.

Oh and you don't need a particular program, I burn discs through Windows' own burn suite which comes packaged with Vista/XP and that works fine. I burn DVDs also, so it'll do the same job for you.
