View Full Version : Cheer 4 Fear

Misawa

I decided to create this more apt thread for my film, Cheer 4 Fear, detailing all information and keeping the discussion in this more suitable area.

Co-written by myself and a friend of mine
Stormy Daniels has agreed to star
Erin Brown/ Misty Mundae has agreed to star
Randy Spears has agreed to star
Henry Rollins has agreed to star

Budgeted at $125,000, but the figure will most likely change
I have a tentative position as director
It will most likely be a straight-to-DVD release
We are waiting on two specific producers to sign on
Three American studios have agreed to read the screenplay
They are all the details that I can think of at the moment. I will keep this updated with what I am allowed to say. Discuss. Questions?

Edit by Coldplay (Forum Moderator); Thread updated [8/8/08].

Seriously, good luck with this and I hope it turns out great, might lead on to bigger and better things.

How long on average does it last?

The project is at least 40% done and is just about to start the screenplay, it is obvious that Mr Sawa has planned this out and has put all his sweat, blood and concentration into this... mostly his sweat.

Misawa

I can use the word "star" to justify anyone performing.

Stormy Daniels and Randy Spears have worked in the adult entertainment industry, but Daniels has turned her attention to actual film, and she is probably the most sought after b-movie actress in the world.

Erin Brown/ Misty Mundae is a cult favourite among horror fans.

They are stars in their own right, and have legions of loyal fans. This is not a Hollywood production, and I don't have $12,000,000 to bring in Jolie.

The title is supposed to be corny and camp. It is a 1980s retro horror. It was either that or the more blatant, Cheerleader Bloodbath. The title can still change at any time.

And thanks.

The original title, named by my co-writer, was Cheerleader Breakdown, with the tagline "Cheer for Fear", but I absolutely hated it, so we renamed it to Cheer 4 Fear, and began thinking of calling it Cheerleader Bloodbath instead. It may change, it may stay the same.

I co-wrote the screenplay with a friend. That's how a film starts off - the script. Next stage is assembling the production team, which has started off with the attachment of performers, but they have no control over the title, etc.

Misawa

There is a producer who wants to do the project, but only if a collaborative producer friend of his wants to too. He contacted him via email over a month ago now and there has been no reply to it, so I don't have particularly high hopes for that apparent duo. Perhaps he could use the phone next time, as I have been told that this older man is useless with email.

Ooh, great! Good Luck.

Could you maybe try to get it in a cinema? Will definatly promote it .. a hell of alot more!

Misawa
21-08-2008, 09:18 PM
It's extremely hard to get an independent film on the big screen, people like high budget glam, and low-budget horror is a niche, as successful as it is. Films make more money on DVD than they do in the cinema.

The film is budgeted at $125,000, but that could completely change depending on what studios officially picks it up, as of course others have more to spend on production.

Eli Roth is a good example of a success story with an independent film. His first feature, Cabin Fever, was entirely an indy produced by himself after 10 years of rejections from studios. He raised $1.5M thanks to (damn rich) family members giving him the money and that was his own budget. It got a midnight screening at the Toronto Film Festival and there was an immediate bidding war by various major studios, which Lionsgate won, attached itself to, and distributed worldwide, creating an international hit. That put him on the map and opened the doors for him to create such films as Hostel and its sequel.

Films with the same luck as Cabin Fever are extremely, extremely few and far between, so I would never, ever hold my breath about a theatrical release. It is too much of a deliberately niched film that it just would not suit anything more than the straight-to-DVD horror market.

As I said before, this will at least get you a place in the industry and you can climb the ladder from the bottom. Who knows? You could be directing Batman 19 in ten years time.

Good luck Missy

Misawa
21-08-2008, 09:56 PM
Haha. I certainly wouldn't mind having my name in the credits of The Dark Knight :P. No one should bother with more Batman interpretations when Nolan's finished I reckon.

Well, I wouldn't say the bottom of the ladder! :D

Fez
21-08-2008, 10:00 PM
Yeah, but somewhere near there.

Offtopic : I'm surprised to see how popular Batman became after it's comeback, maybe if Nolan pulls a oopsie then you could revive it... again xD

I don't think I know anyone, who wouldn't want to be in that film. I know someone who's father auditioned for one of the minor roles in Batman Begins, he travelled all the way from Belfast to London, just to say his lines for 5 minutes, he didn't get through though :(

Misawa
21-08-2008, 10:05 PM
Yeah, no one knew what to expect from Batman Begins. It took the franchise in a whole different direction, it was a new interpretation rather than relying on the exact history of Batman with the comic books. Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns are both excellent films, but once he stopped, the other two films were horrendous, then Chris Nolan took the helm starting things fresh. I still prefer Burton's two over Batman Begins, but The Dark Knight is better than all three I feel.

Another production company has taken a keen interest in the script and have said that they definitely want to produce it, with me personally free to direct if I'd like. The only problem is that they do not finance, but the producers have many contacts who finance independent horror and with the names of Stormy Daniels and Misty Mundae attached, two girls with huge cult followings, it will not be hard at all to sell the film. They are very enthusiastic, so I may take their route, I will see how the other company who claimed to have interest in the film responds to me, and the same goes for the third that wanted to read the script.

Absolutely fantastic news. Getting closer and closer.

Im not sure people are going to see this movie just because two chicks from their porn movies are in it...

Misawa
25-08-2008, 01:50 AM
I was being sarcastic in my last post...

I have faith in my script, and why shouldn't I? If the transition onto screen matches it, then I will be happy.

The film will not be released in cinemas, just on DVD. Misty Mundae is not involved in pornography, just Stormy Daniels, who is also a successful independent horror star, like Misty. Believe it or not, the casting of these two actresses is a dream team for many, as they are cult figures.

I am not going to say anything about the potential success of the film, because I simply cannot. I will say however, that mainstream audiences will not like it, as it is deliberately for the niche that is b-movie horror. I am going to give my all to make it a great film whatever role I eventually play in its production.

Don't understand quite why this has turned into a thread involving me.

Adam I find your comment that I don't write scripts properly a bit underhand as I have never said I intend to write a full formatted script because readers of Habbox.com don't care about timing or whether the scene is int. or ext. or what camera the actor is looking in. I can write 'proper' scripts thank you very much and before you ask I won't send you one. It is more than a hobby so I'd rather you wouldn't act like you're the only person on Habboxforum who has talent for writing.

Plus if my script ever did get commissioned I'd ensure the actors were of a good calibre, not low-rate porn stars. I look forward to buying your DVD in the bargain section in Tesco as a last-minute Christmas present.

LOL! That's gonna sting in the morning.

Randy Spears has been dropped; replaced by Ron Jeremy.

Film legend Lloyd Kaufman joins the project.

omg Ron Jeremy is the man, but not a great idea dissing someones skill based on one small project that's aimed at kids. It's like claiming I can't write lyrics after reading "Now We Are Six" which was written as a joke

LOL! That's gonna sting in the morning.

You'd know about that x

Thanks. I was referring to your teenage thing rather than you in general, I churned the message out quickly, I was busy, so I apologise if I offended you.

Also, Stormy Daniels, Misty Mundae and Ron Jeremy can act, thanks, secondly, their appearances = selling power, which is exactly why they are signed to my project. I have written a niche film on full purpose - if you ever write a grindhouse exploitation film, you will understand.

And I want to elaborate on my post re: McCall that I was referring entirely to the "Teenage Lives" scripts being not written properly merely in that exact sense - them only - I know they aren't written like that here - I was NOT discrediting McCall. In retrospect, I could have perhaps worded my sentence better.

I think to say that he's jealous is slightly big headed.

He's entitled to an opinion, he's not starting arguments. He believes this movie doesn't exist or will never happens. Just because he's not rolling out the red carpet and laying on the fireworks doesn't mean he is trolling.

I think people are beginning to take advantage of the whole 'troll' situation.

Incredibly mature, youngling.

This is my last post that I am going to ever respond to you with:

A. I am a film-maker - and you know it
B. I am not racist - and you know it
C. That just so happens to me one of my favourite words in existence, and cussing is apart of every day life, so get real. It is my right as a writer to pen whatever the hell I want.
D. The project is no longer called Cheer 4 Fear, so technically, your signature is now void of meaning.

You did make racist remarks, though. Underhanded racist remarks. First the "black veins" one and then saying Tupac is "brown bread, no pun intended" when it obviously was.

Misawa
14-09-2008, 02:43 PM
Do you have any kind of grasp of the English language? A. "black veins" is entirely figurative - it is nothing to do with race, it is about personality. B. Slang. Get to grips with lexis before you try and accuse me of being racist.

I am keeping the new title under wraps until the project progresses.

Racism is a type of discrimination, no different or worse from any other (sexism, ageism etc) and this all evolves from stereotypes - which, everybody does because it's part of human nature thus, racism is not morally, but has to be accepted as it's never going to go away. However, after that big sentence, blatant put-down racism is another thing.

Alas, I bid you good luck on your project Adam because, I know you can write and I also know that if you are telling the truth then you will get there and the film will be a success. Having said that, the whole idea of a teenager being trusted with no experience and d-list actors is... well, kind of far-out :).

Misawa
21-09-2008, 02:34 PM
I am very experienced in film-making, this is just my biggest project to date. The cast so far are B-list, with the exception of Ron Jeremy who is actually an A-lister. And thanks.
