Hello guys!

Seems like ages since I last spoke to you about Bright Wight Images - so much has been going on, and I thought I would update you, here at HabboxForum. Last time we spoke, I was preparing for my first client, Sandown Carnival. Both events went smoothly, and I have been invited back in November for a Latern Parade. I managed to get a wooping 2000 images, and following the ratio of 20:100, I managed to send off 200 images to them. This is what they had to say;

Just to say a big Thank you for all your hard work over the past two days, if your photo’s are as good as your attitude then they should be Great! It was a pleasure working with you!

My next event is Skandia Cowes Week - the world's largest sailing regatta. I am today meeting with the official photographers, to discuss going out on a boat for the remaining 3 days of Cowes Week. Linked in with this, I have been asked to do some private work, for a client called 'TrueStone'. They wish for me to do some shots of their boat, from on and off shore. I am yet to confirm this with them, as I need to arrange some times within Cowes Week. All looking good for the remainder of this week!

I have also confirmed today that the Garlic Festival client is 100% happy, and I will recieve my tickets to the show within the next couple of days. I also confirmed yesterday, the position of Official Photographer for a local Steam Show. Working for them, over 4 days, catching the events of the show. This is another great event to add to my local portfolio.

My portfolio is ever growing, and I look to update the website with a few more images within the next couple of days. If you have any questions regarding my photography, BrightWightImages or any of my clients, please do ask.

Good going, now if you do a good job, they will hopefully recommend you to other events = More popularity / well known?

DarrenToogood

Indeed.

Working with onEdition will be a real plus, as they do work with people such as David Beckham. I will let you all know how the meeting goes today - but first I have to find the Press Office!

Wow, You might get to meet some big names if they like you.
Remember, they have to like the person and the images if you want them to come back to you for another event.

I don't see that a new thread was necessary.

Have you made any money yet?

DarrenToogood
05-08-2008, 11:02 AM
No.

I am purely building up experience, in order for me to then seek paid positions. As the TrueStone company have some to me, I could charge them, however I will not be able to know what I am doing on the water until that point.

That's not half a good idea Darren, I admire your pursuits in becoming a professional photographer. Obviously you're pretty good otherwise companies will not refer you to other companies, so it won't be long till you get into the right circles. ;)

Thanks for your support.

I am also in talks with a local photographer, to work with him as a 'work experience' student, outside of school, if he gets a client come in (waiting to hear back).

are you limited to the isle of wight?

MrPinkPanther

a) This should be in the projects forum
b) This isnt needed, the other thread wasnt needed either. Post updates on YOUR site not others. If all the sites advertised on habbox did this then where would we be?

DarrenToogood
05-08-2008, 03:50 PM
I s'pose so, if you look at it that way.

Anyway, I have just met up with the Skandia Cowes Week photographers, and we have agreed to go out tomorrow morning, onto the boat. We will also meet up again on Friday!

Why not update your site with some pictures?

DarrenToogood
05-08-2008, 04:58 PM
I am going to. The only problem is, I have to resize the images I want to 600x400, then make a thumbnail, and then upload to the website, then change the XML file, then upload that - all takes time.

MrPinkPanther

Why not do that instead of spamming the forum with all these pointless posts ^-^.

Oh shutup.

I thought it was pretty interesting, and you're just jealous because Darren actually has something good going for him now, and not failing like you expected.

I dont usually hand out rep but for all the abuse you have taken you have carryed on and this is looking bloody good so + rep.

Darren, google for a simple php image re-sizer, I presume you have a backend with this script that allows you upload pictures? get a friend to integrate the re-sizer.

It is a free script, MD Gallery.

Google 'Mass Image Resizer', there is one for PowerToys (XP) that works great!

Not really, I support Darren and am glad hes got a project going well. But does everyone need to be told about it over and over again? One thread was enough, he has his own site for updates. If people are intrested then they will visit it. Its like when Invent did his POWER stuff and used to make multiple threads on it, did I critisize him? Yes, alot. Just because Darrens had a bad histroy it doesnt mean Im going to be harsher or more leniant.

Dentafrice

You don't have to read the threads? One thread every little while isn't going to bother you, and it is going to fly down your new posts pretty quick.. so you don't have to see it.

You're just being arrogant, and want to start a fight.. over a petty thing.

If people want to advertise and post updates to their site, it's great! People actually care about his project this time..

And people seem to be really interested.. if you're not.. then quit ******* looking at the thread.

Most people casually browsing the forum (such as myself) will only check what appears next to the catagory on the main homepage or the first few threads in the subforum. Darren is pushing everyone elses down on the page. He had one thread about BWI, then created another when his first was still 'active' and now hes created another. This subforum is for advertising your site not posting updates on it ever few days the first thread or his own site would have done for that.

Arrogance - Having excessive pride in ones self

Do explain :), I was merely saying that he has another 2 threads that were perfectly adaquete for this update.

Hey guys!

Thanks for the continued support. I have now uploaded some more images to the website.

I have uploaded a selection of the images from Sandown Carnival, to the 'Event Images' page. I have also uploaded 3 more Moto X images to the 'Automotive' page. I am not uploading too many Moto X pictures, as I do go a lot and I will select 3 for each event to display. This gives a variety of riders, weather and action.

I have added a page to the navigation, Cowes Week 08, ready for the pictures I take tomorrow out on the water. Your comments about the images are very much welcome :)

Please do keep the arguments down

You see this is fine to post an update in a thread you already have but to me it seems like you were in the old thread and you thought Ive posted enough updates here ill create another. It wasnt needed.

Are you still working with others on this? Seems loads of images were taken down.

You seem to be doing really well and having fun too :) Well done and keep it up

Hi there Joe,

I am now working on my own, on this project. The person who was involved before, took it upon himself to be rude, lie and to give out FTP details. He is no longer part of the team. The images he provided were all of Goodwood FOS 08, and yes these have been taken down.

Thank you for your support.

Good that you have stuck with it after that :) Good luck with it all

Hello folks!

I am back from my rather exciting day, out on the Solent. I had such a great time today, with help from the professionals. I am a little worried about how they handle their cameras....£20k worth and didn't even have it around his neck!

I will upload the images asap.

Pyroka

Maybe he had a bad neck? :P

Sounds like you had fun anyway, its amazing how you're taking this so seriously, you've really found something you enjoy and that you can progress with through your life. It's great to hear all about it on here, honestly its like a quest lol.

Indeed. He has invited me back on Friday - another early morning getup :(

Some fool on MSN from my school, getting a little jealous and is trying to mimic the events I do - basiclly following me to the events I go to. Very very sad.

Good luck Darren.

I hope you fulfil your photography dreams. Look on the bright side, whilst the guys who bullied you on this forum for so long are working there *** off for PC World, you will have been all over the world, looking at wildife, events, shows with your camera and getting paid a bomb.

Very best of luck. I wish you success.

Update:

My picture of Ellen MacArthur may be going to publication! I have contacted a local newspaper and they are more than happy to accept the image and credit me for it - if they feel the image is suitable.

The lady on the phone was very happy, and I have just sent the image to her - another brilliant step for my portfolio.

Sorry for the triple post - Didn't realise!

This one has been created for general use, for others to post around. This image has also now been put onto the BWI website. I will add more tomorrow.
