I started wearing contact lenses 2 weeks ago, and in that time, 2 of the lenses have been split. My nails are blunt and if they're not in my eyes, they're in the container with solution. I don't get how they keep splitting.

The split kinda looks like (__.^.__) - Cant draw in ASCII ;[

Do you use daily or monthly contacts? I use daily ones and mine very rarely split. It could be that the make is not very good, or you're doing something incorrectly while putting them in and taking them out or washing them. Is there anything in the container that could be splitting them, like a sharp edge?

I have to put them in a solution everynight or when im not wearing them and get a new pair every month.

I put them in and out the way I was taught. My nails are really short so I dont pinch with my nails.

The container it comes in is plastic.

They do tend to curl over sometimes. That a problem?

Mine curl over sometimes. The only time i've split them is while trying to get it back into shape after it curls over.

I wear monthlies, and regularly split them. Dont know how, just happens. I simply go and get another free set from the optician to replace them :)
