It makes it get done a lot quicker, otherwise they would have to type out the names of all the entrants.

I don't think it has anything to do with common sense. It's a matter of time and effort :/

I've always used it in competitions for the ease of copy+paste. It's especially useful when people use symbols in their names and you're trying to PM them.

it is just easyer for the people to see tbh :) if they have to go through aload of entries it just helps them alot :)
