We just managed to get gold in the road cycling, looked doubtful as she fell back at the bottom of the last hill but she pulled it back :)

GB's 200th ever gold and wales first since 1973, we're upto 7th in the medal tables now.

Nicole Cooke claimed Britain's first gold medal of the Beijing Olympics by winning a thrilling women's road race.
The 25-year-old from Wales timed her finish to perfection, edging ahead of Emma Johansson and Tatiana Guderzo in the sprint to the line.
Cooke finished in a time of three hours, 32 minutes and 24 seconds to become Britain's first Olympic medallist in this event.

She did brilliantly, she ****** it up at the last corner and was last in the pack but sprinted very well to take home the gold.

Mark Cavendish ans Bradley Wiggins will win gold. Cav is the fastest man in the world. He absolutely blitzed the field in the Tour de France. The track cycliists are good aswell with Chris Hoy, Wiggins, Cav, Pendleton, Romero and that BMX girl.

Cycling, Rowing and Sailing seems to be what we are best at. Good to hear. Unfortunatly we have dropped down to 10th now, but at least we've finally got a medal :D

Mr.Sam

We're also doing quite well at singles badminton. Smith started off quite nervous, but played a good game once he calmed down. He beat Czech Republic's number 1. Hallam beat Hong Kong's Yip Pui Yin (who is 2 places above her in the world rank I think) without ease. Smith is playing tomorrow at 3:20am.

I watched the womans doubles eariler, they played well in match one and the bad serve at the end was the turning point, I think they targetted (forgot her name) too much and tried to attack her at all costs even hitting across court and they lost quite a few points like that.

What at about the women's track events, mens track events, swimming and the women's heptathlon see as though Carolina Kluft has pulled out. Could be a British 1-2 in that one. Still some more medals to come.

My favourite, Smith, just lost his second men's singles badminton game. :'( He started off brilliantly and was dominating the first match and first half of the second, but suddenly went down hill from there, then it all went horribly wrong. He caught up quite a bit on the last match, but sadly it wasn't enough. Hallam's on later today, I'll be rooting for her!

I heard just before she won it started to rain.
I think thats why she won all it ever does is rain in Wales so she must've felt at home.

I think the mixed doubles is our best shot of a medal in badminton. Ems and Robertson were awesome in Athens!

Yeah, the German guy was ranked lower as well. :eusa_wall Smith was destroying him in the first game and first half of the second though. Dunno why, but Smith just started playing badly, then he got annoyed at himself and couldn't concentrate. He was just reacting to what his opponent was doing, he wasn't setting up any shots or thinking about what he was going to do. He slammed his racket down at one point. He basically gave the second match away after the German managed to get a good lead. The third match started off bad for Smith, he caught up quite a bit later on, but it wasn't enough. Hallam also lost to a German.

David Florence secured Britain's first silver medal in Beijing with a perfect run in the Olympic men's slalom canoe. He came quite close to getting the gold.

That was in her first run, they get two runs and the best time counts. She was a few hundreths of a second of first place on her second run :D!

It was cancelled due to the rain.

I think it's still going ahead today.

We need some more gold, Russia are catching us up in the medal tables. We've had one so far today in the sailing, looking for two more with Shanaze Read in the Women's BMX, and Phillips Idowu in the Men's Triple Jump.

A big let down there, she threw away her silver going for gold on the last corner. An Idowu only got silver too.

We've managed to keep the Russians at bay for another day though :P

Mr.Sam

only 2 days left :P

have to makesure we keep ahead of the russians, didn't help when we dropped the thing in the relay final and russia got gold.
