For a nuke to hit USA, depending from where launched an hour or two from west side of Russia, then 4-5 hours from the east, or the other way around.

The radioactivity alone wouldn't kill the world. The actual explosions would aswell...

No the UN don't, usually only the President of each nation does - this stops Submarine captains, General's and the like from going rouge or holding the world or nation hostage.

It generally gave us 24mins warning before a Russian Nuke would hit America in the Cold war. Seeing as Submarines, ICBM's and Bomber tech has all changed, I reckon that figure will probably still stand.

I'm intending to join the Army/RAF, and personally I'd prefer to be sent to Georgia than to Afghanistan. It'll be more of a Conventional war - you can take cover from Russian Tanks and Air, but not from a Roadside bomb (and frankly, my biggest fear is losing a limb or being immobilised).

The West won't take action against Russia because the West would lose. Russia have their allies too, they're a very powerful country who are proving a point imo: They're still in charge.

If the west take action, expect Russia to show them how natural resources are going to kill their economies. Kill the economy, kill the country. Russia have the upper hand, there won't be any "bomby bomby". :)
