Moving out

Do you ever think about moving out and getting a flat?

I've been thinking about it loads latley. I'm 18 now and I feel well sad telling people I still live at home with my parents. I'm starting a full time job next week where I will be on just under £800 a month to start of with. Do you think I'll be earning enough to move out? I've got a few mates interested in sharing a flat with me but I don't know where to start lol.

Does anyone have any experience and can give me some advice?

my brothers flat costs 200 a month i think lol so that should be enough, either that's a month or a week. lol i have no idea what i'm going to do, get my dad's villa when he dies so .... LOL :)

he lives with his girlfriend & they both work so yeh, i don't think it's including gas electric though, not sureeeeeee soz.

There are some folk around here who are 20 and live with there parents the only people younger than that that actually dont are either at uni or full time job. £800 is enough, £200~ for the flat, £150/£250 for food (if you do it properly) and the rest save.

Lots of people rent out cheap housing to younger people/students. I think with your friends pitching in it is affordale and if you all agree on food budgets etc it'll be financially possible too.

I don't see an issue... it might be hard at first if you need furniature and other bits and bobs but i'd say maybe try and get 3/4 mates to move with you?

Also, i'd aim low because you're not going to get a posh flat in a city and be able to afford it :P

My brother only has to pay £20, but thats living at his friends house because he didn't move with us :P Gets food, washing done and all that too!

Yer, i think im gonna goto somewhere like butlins or center parks and get my lifeguard stuff sorted out.
do that till im 20 then apply for the police.

About 30% of people aged 20-30 still live with their parents. I'm 19, nearly 20 and still living at home because I can't afford to move out.

I often think about what I'm gonna do when I'm 18-19, But Im too young to be thinking about that now.

I just did a quick search of the flats near me and it was £400 - £500 per month on average based on two bedroomed but im sure you could get it cheaper.
