Can you buy a controller to use with n64 emulators, 'cos it's abit tricky to control with the keyboard and i don't know what some of the buttons are either.

Yes, you can even use an xbox 360 controller.
Just make sure your emulator has mappable controls :)

Just buy a wired one and map the buttons, I do that.

any controller shold work with emulators, although I find the n64 simply has too many buttons and find it easier to use the keyboard

Yeah you can

as a matter of fact I ordered one off ebay about 1 week ago

It's like a normal controller but it's a USB one, if you get me

I use a real N64 controller with my N64 emulator, I got a USB -> N64 adapter off ebay for £10. It also has a PS1 controller port on it.

Have you installed the drivers for the pad and mapped the buttons to certain functions in the emulator?

If a CD came with the controller install it, if not search the model of the controller followed by drivers on google.
