Hi, why are the results of the polls always hidden? I know that I and a few others would really love to see the results, and there is no point hiding them on stupid questions like "What would you like to be improved" etc?

Just seems pretty pointless to me?

I think it is to stop influencing the votes. If the majority of the forum vote for something then someone else may vote that option just because everyone else has.

I think that's a major reason, yeah :) I think there is nothing wrong with not disclosing the results seeing as there is no reason why you need to see them? The most voted option is used for improvements, why do you need to know how well the other options were voted? :S

so people arn't affected by results.
if for example everyone votes for something, they might change their mind regarding the idea or want to wait a while for example and people would complain why it hasn't been done.

Forcing people to vote doesn't mean the votes are going to be pure either  I've already seen some people mention they only voted to get it off the index page (and they also mentioned that they didn't like any of the options). Not sure why they're hidden, because if the majority voted for something, and whoever is behind the votes didn't like the idea, they could go with the other option and no-one would know :/

Last time MAD said

"I said I will post them if people are interested. The poll hasn't closed yet so results will not be published until the poll is closed"

Maybe he will reveal them when the poll closes

You aren't forced to vote...I haven't seen a post that says directly that you must vote..

I think it's the only way of getting the poll off the index.

Oh, I understand now. I guess an option in the UserCP could be introduced? That's if it's possible.

I think the poll results are revealed when the poll closes anyway, they were with the last batch of polls.

As Invent correctly said, there is no need for you to see the results. You will be able to tell what the results are from our changes implemented.

The main reason they are hidden is so people are not affected by the current votes.

Could there be an abstain option like there usually is for people who don't want to vote so they can get it off the index? It will help unaffect the results even more because then people can vote abstain instead of any old ramdom option to get rid of the poll. :)

There was a feature like this on punBB (i think it's myBB now) where you could "null" vote. I'm sure if someone has a look around it could be a plausible plugin?

They could just add abstain from voting or null as one of the options. :P

or that :P, but that has been put into some of them, I remember as I abstained in one or two of them.
