Why is HabboxForum's server hosted in the US if it's a UK based site, like why didn't you choose UK for the location, as the loading speed would be a lot faster for your target / main base of users.

This is true, then maybe the service wouldn't be so ****e and we would be able to edit posts properley.

Quite simply because with a server this massive we need to be cost effective :P And they've been a fairly reliable server company.
By the way edit load / save times are just as bad for me a lot of the time :P

Is that not a recent thing though? I've only been noticing it the last few days. :(

Does Jin know what's causing the sudden lag? He seems to be the one to talk to :P It's only a recent thing so I'm guessing the update after the maintenance is to blame (which happened a few days ago). It only seems to happen with editing posts for me :S

It's because of a huge database upload (4.7GB) but it shouldn't still be lagging - I'll direct him here when he comes on MSN unless he gets here beforehand. :)

Dedicated's within the UK are not any more expensive if you actually know where to look. £90 can get you a realy nice dual core, 500GB HD with around 10tb of bandwidth. You may want to take a look at the UK2.net advertisement that actually appears of the forums alot.

USA Servers are cheaper than UK ones - No idea why just is that way, and always has been.Electricity will be cheaper in the US, less or no tax in the US and they can pay lower wages and the components would be cheaper in the US too.

Easiest thing to do:
1) Buy server parts, ship them to me.
2) I assemble server.
3) You buy colocation space.
4) They come and take server from me.
5) Success.
Replace me with whatever you want.

We already have a server though!
It may be involved with the uploading of a backup for Habbox.com after the Joomla exploit where they were kind enough to explain on their site, with the patch, EXACTLY how to manipulate the security flaw to hack sites which hackers immediately used to take advantage of those who did not religiously check Joomla updates.
But then again they may be on different servers. They used to be hosted together, then seperately, not sure what's going on now :P

They are on different servers how ever they gained access to the system and i think they did it just to be on safe side.
Lol at the attack though i was on as it happens and withing 30 seconds it had been resolved they posted there attack on v.o.i.d.e forums and people didnt believe the guy becuase it was fixed by the times they looked ha, yes we have now started making an effort to check daily of the joomla updates a fault on our behalf. (mainly MAD's).
