I baught a 500 gig for around £60 from ebay, But what ever floats ya boat :P

You slot them into you HP PC dont you. Mum has a slot for something like that on hers.

looks like just a standard usb external so no slotting ;)


Nice buy i have two WD elements 500gb (£40 each) and they do me a treat

Freecom are better :P He can't complain though, that's quite a decent price and I never knew HP made them :S

The new "Maxtor" drives are very reliable. The old ones before they got bought by Seagate are the ones to watch out for.

Well Dell try to be as cheap as possible, and Western Digitals are generally cheap so that is why. WD don't have the bast record in reliability to be fair though.

Wouldn't surprise me if the drive in the HP was Hitachi or Samsung.

I recently bought a 500gb Maxtor Basic External HDD.
It's brilliant.

Nah, shouldn't be necessary. Most external HDDs will power down the driv after a while of not being accessed and then power it on again when you need it anyway.
