My question was gonna be, why do we have to request group membership. That's just stupid.

Go to your UserCP and click on Group Memberships at the navigation on the left hand side :)

Oh sorry I mis read your question :P

I think the reason you have to request it and it's not just automatic is to prevent you from joining multiple groups and to ensure the staff join the right ones as certain departments have to join certain groups so everything is even.

You dont really have to give a reason. Though you do have to join a team as the whole point is to gain points for your team, as well as individually.

Good point, the idea was that only people who have joined a usergroup could post. However obviously we can't get feedback then. But you can provide feedback here :)
