the USA have appealed against the 100m womens final saying that one of their athletes false started and because of this was off step.

The medal ceremony has been put on hold.

That is officially the worst excuse ever. Oh, I false started, lost but I am complaining.

They false started which gave them an unfair advantage and still lost but complain. They're being stupid.

Who won it?

Shelly-Ann Fraser won. Jamaica came 1st, 2nd and 2nd.

Surely if she false started, she'd be disqualified and the results would remain the same :)

One false start = everybody on a yellow card
Two false starts = disqualification for the person who fale started

If it was the first false start, they would restart the race.

Usually after a false start they redo it first. And then the DQing starts for false starting after that.

Oh, I thought it was a straight disqualification. :)

Oh, I thought it was a straight disqualification. :)No but I believe it is in the Swimming but I don't recall of any happening this Olympics. People tend to do it deliberately to put people off but I fail to see an advantage in that.

They just said on Games Today that the appeal has been rejected. :)
