new laptop

Now its got linux as a OS and ive never used it.
but i dont mind about that, the thing im worried about is its only got 512mb, do you think this will be enough ram for this OS?

Yes 512MB would be enough but why would you want the laptop??? Its only got 8GB space and 512MB ram and its £219!?!?!? Seriously, get another one.

The reason it's so expensive is because it has a solid slate hdd (SSD).
I'd consider looking at the MSI Wind or the Eee PC if you want a netbook.
You'd be better off steering away from a netbook anyway, unless all you want it for is basically the internet and emailing. They're not that great for much else.

edit: just to let you know, it only has an 8.9 inch screen.

The MSI Wind? It's a giant. You might as well go with a 13" laptop as opposed to the Wind. The Aspire One and the EEE 901 and 900A have the intel atom(the Wind might too..I forget), it comes with a built in overclocking tool, and you can overclock to 1.8Mhz safely(some users are going to 2.0Ghz using other tools, and that works fine with the Atom too). My 901 I upgraded to 2GB ram(it comes with 1GB), and I've been able to run GTA SA on maximum graphics perfectly, I run Photoshop off my 901 with Firefox and MSN open at the same time(and it runs very well). These second round Atom Netbooks are not slow, especially if they have the SSDs in them. I don't run Vista on my EEE, but the Vista rating on my 901 is better than the Vista rating of my Aspire 9410 (Centrino Duo and 2.5GB RAM). Also the first batch of 901s has a ZIF connector in it, which means you're able to put a 1.8" HDD in the 901 as a slave, use that to store all your files on, and still have Windows or Linux operating fast because it's running off the SSD. I wasn't expecting to get the kind of performance out of my 901 that I did, but I was very happy with what I could do on it, the screen is 8.9"s, but if you want to go any bigger then you have to get a EEE 1000H which, (in my opinion) is pretty pointless, because if you're getting that, you might as well just get a 13" subnote.

Exactly! Eee all the way imo, then follow some tutorials on modifing it, like adding bluetooth etc etc

No need to add internal bluetooth manually, the 901 comes with bluetooth. All you have to do is enable it in the BIOS :). At the moment for myself, I am eyeing a touchscreen, and internal 1.8" HHD for my 901.
