The US and Poland have signed a deal to locate part of the US's controversial missile defence system on Polish soil.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice travelled to Warsaw for the ceremony, after 18 months of negotiations.

The deal has angered Russia, which has warned the base could become a target for a nuclear strike.

Washington says the system will protect the US and much of Europe against missile attacks from "rogue elements" in the Middle East such as Iran.

So its happened. Poland are stupid enough, after being warned by Russia they still accept the US nuclear deal. They're practically asking to be attacked by Russia.

Yep, not very much sympathy from me I'm afraid. I understand Russia's threats were extremely harsh but they have warned and the demands weren't unreasonable.

I doubt any conflict will spark off to be fair but I'm not going to entirely rule it out like I did the Georgian crisis.

Is it just me, or are Poland always on the receiving end of attacks? Everytime something kicks off in Europe, they're one of the first to go.

and I also think Poland think they get some protection from the US in this matter.Yes they do, Poland along with many other European countries, Canada and America make up NATO, it has nothing at all to do with the EU and if any countries in NATO are attacked, all NATO Nation's must be on stand-by. NATO are currently fighting in Afghanistan, hence the presence of France, Germans and Danish as well as British, Americans and Australians.

The reason they got the missile launch is to protect NATO nations.

Above has no idea what he is on about, I am sure that the entire of people in this section will continue to rave about nuclear weapons and World War III for months on end now, not like they ever stopped.

Stupid deal. If the US don't find Russia a threat, there would be no use for it and there really is no use for the shield, unless this is America's subtle way of saying "Russia are the enemy," because there would be no use for it if America saw no threats from other countries. The US are bringing it upon themselves building this missile shield
