Ok, so I have a laptop with Vista on it, and I'd like to dual boot with XP on a separate partition. I'll only be using one program on this new XP partition, so space isn't an issue.
Here's a look at my computer atm:

Would there be any room to put the XP install on - also, whats the 94MB thing about? Thankss

Try Windows Virtual PC instead of partitioning to run a programme in XP. Virtual PC will emulate XP in a window on your Vista PC.
It's also free I believe: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/virtualpc/overview.mspx
Right click that 3.52GB unallocated one and click format. Use that as your XP partition.

I doubt 3.5GB would be enough space, I'd go for atleast 10GB before you install XP on

Ok, then I boot from XP CD, and choose it to be installed on that partition?

Yeap, just make sure you do install it on the 3.5GB one or you're screwed.

thankss,
I had to delete the 2.50GB one as my laptop told me that I had the maximum number of partitions, now I've got 61MB of free space floating around aha. But thanks anyway, its formatting now

Ok I tried it - unsuccessfully
I pressed ENTER to install Windows XP onto a harddisk, and I got this message:

Yet My Computer displays the partition set aside for the XP:

I use XP and my system32 folder is 13GB, so you will need a bigger partition for XP.

What you need to do is find out the chipset of your laptop and find out the drivers needed for your harddrive, I'm guessing your harddrive is a SATA drive which requires drivers for it to run, XP disc's don't have these drivers so you need to download nLite, Put XP Disc in and slipstream drivers into the XP disc and burn off a new XP disc. I had to do this to put XP onto a laptop, It took me a while to get it done but it did work in the end.
I used this tut to help me http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/resolving-setup-did-not-find-any-hard-disk-drives-during-windows-xp-installation/
