View Full Version : Funerals
Depressing subject i know! im going to my uncles tomorrow in a ruralish part of wales. All 3 ceremonies are going to be in welsh. We are having one in the house, one in the church and one at the grave and then off to the pub. Seems a little bit weird to me but apparently its tradition. It used to be tradition that women wernt allowed but thats changed now.
What weird funerals have u been to?

i've been to 5 funerals lol. a great auntie, an auntie, 2 uncles & my gran.
i haven't been to any weird ones but when i went to my grans it was in the catholic church & the priest was taking a physco with the holy water chucking it everywhere, was stupid. + at all funerals the priests just REALLY go for it when they are singing, it's funny.
I went to a funeral once because my mums best friend, jumped in front of a train because she had a illness called Syzophrenia or something like that she thought she was tormented by the devil.
So her son, who is now 24/25 he comes round for dinner sometimes, but they were both very upset and me and my brother was because we knew Josapheine quite well sadly she couldnt overcome evil :(
But, my mum has pictures of her good times.

I've been to 3 funerals, my two grandparents both in the last few years, but the first one I attended left me in shock. I was 10/11 years old, the church was packed, lots of crying, and nuns stood around the edge of the church, we sat through a mass, then after some time left for the cemetery where I saw the coffin being lowered. I think I was too young, but my cousins who are younger than me were there to bury their mother.

Couldn't go to my grandad's due to chickenpox.
Erm the last one was my Great Aunty who had dimentia/alzeimers for 10 years.. and tbh we expected her to die straight away if the doctors didn't break the rules thanks to my mum's cousin.
I wouldn't gone to my great uncle's too, two weeks ago, but was in France.
I hate funerals.

Only one I ever went to was my grandma's and that wasn't weird. The only thing I found strange, though, was that my grandad didn't cry. I know he had been crying before but he didn't that day. My mum said he could have been taking something. I think it could have been true.

Funerals are nearly worst than christenings - having some priest (who probably likes kids) touch a babies head is kinda boring.
Funerals are sad though and the only entertainment is the people who get too drunk afterwards.
I couldn't go to a funeral incase I think of something funny and start laughing..

I went to my Gramps' funeral, it wasn't a religious ceremony 'cause he didn't believe in that. They played Monty Pythons "Bright side of life" at the end as we were walking out, guess he'd have wanted us to leave smiling so.

I haven't had a 'wierd' funeral, and I've only attended one, July 2008, my cousin's funeral, he was 18.

I've never been to a funeral, I'm not a crying sort of person but I'd probably cry my eyes out if it was a close relatives funeral I go to lmao

Last funeral I went to was my grans and was only depressing because I had to carry the coffin with my grandad at the front. She knew she was near death and wrote notes or memoirs if you like to be read out, they were quite funny and she had wish you were here by pink floyd playing so was all good, best way to remember her. sorry about your uncle :)
Eugh i have a funeral on Friday afternoon.
I've only been to one before and i said i wouldnt cry but kinda did ;/
They're so depressing and id rather go to the dentist.
