Can anyone give me some advice on dual booting?

I assume, all you need to do is make a partition and then install your selecting OS on the partition or is it more complicated?

Thanksss +rep to helpers.

Thanks. I'd be looking to install an Apple operating system with Vista already installed though.

It gets a little more complicated with OS X as you have to partition a FAT32 partition, format that as Journaled Mac OS partition in the OS X installer, install OS X then edit the Vista bootloader, which is surprisingly easy and I can help you with :)

I assume that is why i couldn't choose a place to install MacOSX, it wouldn't show any HDDs or anything?
