Hello there :)!

IE8 beta 2 was released yesterday and I am surprise there has been no threads about it yet on here. I installed it last night and I must say I am very impressed with it compared to how I felt with IE8 beta 1.

The performance has improved greatly. The new features are oustanding and I really don't see my loading up firefox for a while because this simply out does it.

There are some good videos here that you can watch that talk about the new features:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/beta/launch-videos.aspx

Worth the watch IMO.

You can also read about them at the official IE8 blog here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/

Download IE8 Beta 2 here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/beta/worldwide-sites.aspx

Post what you think :).

Please however do not post if you are just going to flame IE or Microsoft.

Thanks

I might download it, however IE allways feels sort of clunkier (if you get what I mean) than firefox. I have IE8 beta 1 but most pages wern't viewable :S

Downloaded Beta 1 ... wasn't really two impressed by them.. IE is just slowly turning into firefox... very few unique ideas.. although there were a few that caught my attension

didn't really think it was worth posting, referenced it in one of my posts a few days ago though

Annoyingly - it took me ages to find where the uninstall was for IE8! - under updates of course... whydidn't i think of looking there... oh i know because its a program and not an update for a preinstalled program

No, I think they have a lot of new unique features now that come default with IE such as web slices, accelerators (previously called Activities), smart address bar (I know this exists in FF3), visual search bar (very useful!).

Plus they have private browsing and also have a feature where you can delete all cookies/history etc EXCEPT ones relating to sites in your favorites which IMO is very useful.

Like I said, they have also improved performance of the browser itself and even pages seem to load a lot faster for me now, same with scripts like the editor in vB.

Plus lots more.

Currently downloading... lol my IE7 at the moment keeps getting random "cannot display" pages for some reason so maybe this'll be a bit more friendly, 'cause for some reason I just don't like Firefox

The webslices is the onlyone that took my attension the rest are items i woudn't use.. the smart address bar is something else i noticed and i actually found annoying - i don't want any part of my url dimmed!

but of course favourites on navigation bar, tabs, are just the most annoying copys from firefox . my girlfriend seems pretty happy that when she was down a week ago i installed the beta 1 on hers she seems pretty impressed by it.. but i'm just not an IE person

just really annoyed that the uninstall was under "updates" on vista..

"Self-Extracting Cabinet has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

It wouldn't let me open it straight from the site because it was blocked by Windows for some reason, so I download it to desktop and that's what happens when I try to run it.

oh right sorry. Thought it was just the videos

Web slices would be pretty good if IPB and vB made there forums work with it, but at first there isn't going to be much to do with it I surpose

Let me just warn you. If you install Beta 2 on Windows XP with Service Pack 3, you CANNOT uninstall it. That means you can't go back to IE7 unless you do a repair install from your XP disc.

Goddamn, I just installed this and I've been browsing for literally 2 minutes and I've already set is as my default browser, it's absolutely brilliant.

Also from what I can see / feel, it seems to be snappier than firefox too!

Check your proxy settings under connections in IE internet options.

The beta for the last version was quite long (arround 6-12 months from what I remeber), There will probs be a beta 3 for this one aswell because I am still getting lots of bugs on xp.

On xp when I click a link anywhere on the screen while the page is loading it displays a message about restarting the browser :(
