As someone felt like posting info on the latest beta of IE8 i finally thought / finally bothered to mention MSN 9 or rather Windows Live Messenger 9 due for main release in 2009 (the same as 8 was 2008 and 7 was 2007)

There is no main public point to download it

but can of course be downloaded from

http://rs272.rapidshare.com/files/139790159/WLM_14_0_3921_717.msi (http://www.9down.com/Windows-Live-Messenger-9-0-Beta-Download-19863/)

Very good features in this version which include logging in from multible locations without signing out from the other

INfo on it can be found
http://www.msgstuff.com/all-about-windows-live-messenger-9/

here

Sign-in and messaging in multiple locations - You asked for it, now you have it! You can now sign into Messenger from more than one computer at a time, up to four at once. Simply sign into Messenger from one computer, install Messenger on another computer and sign in using the same account. (Only works if all computers are running Messenger 9.0 Beta. Currently enabled only for users whose Windows Live ID country is US or Canada.)
Signature sounds – Pick your own personal sound that your contacts will hear when you sign into Messenger (only works if you and your contacts have Messenger 9.0 Beta).
Per contact sounds - Pick unique sounds for each of your contacts. You will be able to tell from across the room who is sending you a message.
SPIM Reporting - If users send you unsolicited messages or invitations that you consider spam, you can block them and report them as spammers. If you report a user as a spammer, the messenger service will collect this data and put appropriate restrictions on the spammer accounts. All reports of spammers are kept confidential.
Animated Display Pictures – Show your moves! Messenger now supports animated .gif files as display pictures.
Link in Personal Status Message – URLs in Personal Status Messages are hot and clickable in the Messenger contact list.
Behind the Scenes Changes – Architectural changes that modified how things work but shouldn't have changed how things look

Changes to sign-in, connectivity, presence, sending text IM’s, voice & video features
Windows Live Contacts Server – wlcomm.exe runs in the background to keep your contacts’ information up-to-date and helps Messenger sign you in faster

Updated groups feature - A Group is a special chat room to which you can invite your buddies, and which stays on your contact list until you delete it (making it an instant multi-party conversation). The group will appear to be online when a another buddy in the group is also online. With a group, you can share files, photos, chat history, etc.
Favorites category - This category is always shown at the top, and when contacts are added to them their full details are shown in your contact list (similar to the "Show all contact details" feature in v8.5). The favorites category is also shown on older clients, where it will display as a regular category.
Photo sharing - You can add or remove photos from the current session, and browse through them while you and your buddy discuss the currently displayed photo. Although we couldn't try it out in detail yet, this promises to make it much easier to show all those holiday and party photos to your buddies.

I have to say when the first beta of it came out i was impressed and was even more by the latest version released... by far the best MSN/WLM todate

This is old news.
I have MSN 9 beta for ages, and tbh, it's slower than all other versions, makes your DP look rubbish quality and the signature sounds only work 50% of the time.

As the kind people in this thread have said - it has been out quite awhile which is why in the opening thread i talk about finally bothering to post about it.. meaning that it had been out a while and that i had just felt no need to post about it - just like i had felt no need to post about ie8

So for thoose who decided to post that i'll give them a little neg rep, because their post was one ether bragging that they had it for ages, which does not really add to the thread or like the first thread they are attempting to tell me that this thread is pointless and old news - which it is not as old news would be something thats been posted before and well.. this hasn't.

And for the sake of the person who said its been out 3/4 of a year.. it really hasn't as it was released in 2008 and 3/4 of a year would mean it was released january 1st and it would currently have to be 1st of September ...
It was not released on the 1st January and sadly its still rainy august!
Far as i'm aware from when i had a beta email it has been out 5 months and run through two beta versions (aka beta1 and beta2)

Yes it is still in Beta but is quite stable the only problem i've had since switching at its release is webcam - it doesn't seem to always like it and will sometimes just end it when you go to another window but thats a rare bug!

Actually, it has been posted before. I believe by your reasoning alone that makes it "old news?"

Do stop with the annoying "I'm right and I'm better than anyone for posting NEW news" act, tis rather annoying. It has been out for ages :/ And this was last posted early August and it's on page 2 of the forum :/ So someone has bothered about posting it before you...

I was also minus repped.
I don't see what was wrong with my comment?
Tbh, this guy's attitude is childish, - Repping for no valid reason.
I commented on the thread, giving my thoughts on '9 Beta', as they are what my experience is.
Sheesh.

To you TomSpit i do apologize, your first comment was on topic and i was quite angry at the time due to circumstances you coudn't be help responsable for. Although i think the post i've quoted wasn't really needed. But please don't call me childish.. childish is getting moody over Rep

To the one other person i minus repped which was Tom743 your rep was well deserved and if that rep didn't count you'll be recieving another for that lovely post you've just made

To Gomminc , I was beaten to it, it appears but i'm almost possitive a new release has been out since then, please don't ever try and twist my words to make it sound like i'm trying to sound better then other members. Sadly i would of missed it because well i havn't been on the forum is several months, a quick search revealed nothing.
