Well i've been coding layouts for people for a while now, I've never exactly been the best coder but I know that i'm better than half the morons out there who charge extremely high prices for rubbish coding (in tables lolol) and well I want to actually start making money.
I want to know roughly how much I can make for coding layouts for people, not just habbo ones but professional ones if I ever do decide to get into the business.

These are the most recent layouts i've coded, Please note that I did not design these layouts, I simply just coded them on request off the rightful owner.

http://shanes.sawhosting.com/c/coding/
http://shanes.sawhosting.com/c/sarith/
http://shanes.sawhosting.com/c/layout.php ( I did however design this one rofl)

I know I won't be able to make much from just coding but I still want to know how much I should be able to charge, as soon as learn how to use Photoshop fully i'll start making actual layouts aswell ^^

Speaking of truth - I would gladly pay you over £100 for a fully coded, professional easy to use and maintain css layout. (if I had the money to spend on a layout, and if I needed one)

Speaking of personal opinions, but the one you created for me is fantastic. Very easy to get where you want with the addition of comments, it is clean, tidy (I didn't check on the validation though) but 5 out of 6 for me.

Although your coding is great in the way of validated I do feel you should start to use strict web methods. If you're going to try start making money you need to code cleanly and cut down the uses of unwanted tags such as <b></b> you'd want to be using <strong></strong>, make more use of the <p> tag too. That said your coding is efficient and easy to tell which part is for which area of the site with the use of coding comments.

All my coding is always valid :D Thanks for your comments <3

I dislike trying to make my layouts valid strict as I hate the use off <h1>'s and <p>'s round everything, just makes it look a bit messy in a seance :(

I agree with you that using headings and paragraph tags gets really clammy at points but it's all part of the learning curve I guess! As I said, just stick to making your layouts valid and I'm sure you'll make some cash :)

Then you wont beable to make alot of money from coding, there just a few of the things you will need to use to meet "professional" standards.

That's his coding preference.

I'm sure if one of his customers asked he would most likely do it.

I'd pay the average price, you seem like a good coder but I'd never let you do content or anything with commas.

Anyone can code Joomla, I think it's a simple templating system which uses {variable} to show the part of the page.

What would you say is the average price? £10 ,£20? £80, the diffrence between the first two figures and the last is the small things like header tags. It's good practise anyway to use header tags and paragraph tags.

Also the SS host layout has a very small error in Safari and Opera.

What do you mean? Other than making it strict (It's a simple task which will just mean I have to add in the header and <p> tags) what else do I need to do?

Indeed I will :D

I'm guessing it's the banner that's the error? I can't do anything about that as the script used for the specific navigation extends the frame by a pixel causing there to be a small white patch when scrolled :(

Just making full use of all the different xHTML tags, commenting on your code clearly will also help you increase your price, although don't over comment, if you are planning on using your own site to sell your services you could add that as on optimal extra quite a few people tend to go for it as it's only about $5-10 more

Around what is the 'average' price?

It depends how you go about getting clients, if it's via your own site based completely on xHTML & CSS Coding then you could probably ask for $40 - $80 depending on the completion time and how much money you want :P

But if you go around forums people tend to spend about half $40 is around the average on most forums. (I'm using dollars as that’s what most people tend to use on other forums as their full of Americans)

Oh I didn't see that, it’s the client login that I saw;

I mean that you usually place commas like:

hey , sally got me a chocolate bar from the candy shop!

Ok thanks for all your help and advice :D
Hmm, i'll try to fix that.

The ss-host text is copied from the original the site, and the other two use Lipsum dummy text lol?

Not really sure how you can consider using proper tags in proper places messy but each to their own.

If you're serious about making money then you need to you need to perfect your coding before you even consider asking for money. Afterall if you found out the coding you recieved was to a poor standard and you paid for it, you'd be annoyed.

Oh and also, just because the coding is valid doesn't mean it's good coding....
