Why don't you use it for educational resources, as that is what I pay taxes for, not for kids to purchase games?

Heart Break Kid

lol no its not
they government pays people of my age to go back to school :D
its our choice what we spend it on
we cant all be nerds who go buy 30 quid a week on new books to read about what happened in the year 40 A.D

Funya Chin

It's all meant to be for educational purposes.

Whatever you decide to do, EMA could help you with the cost of books, travel, equipment or anything useful to continue learning.

No, I am on EMA too, and it's meant to fund your learning - whether it be bus passes, bus tickets, train tickets, books, food for school, stuff like that... if you spend it on gaming, it defeats the purpose of getting EMA.

Pisses me off when my EMA couldn't even fund my bus fares cos I only get £10 a week while you're splashing out on stuff you don't need.

And judging by your last line... good luck in life.

Why can't you accept that he wants to spend his EMA on something HE wants to spend it on. It's not your money to decide what to buy with it. EMA is mainly for those who are in full time education, and do not have the time to get a part time job. How would you like it if somebody told you what to do with YOUR money you get from your job? You wouldn't like it all, would you?

Wootzeh
06-09-2008, 10:05 AM
It is his money though so you can't tell him what to spend it on.

Heart Break Kid

Paulio

Yes you get it for being in full time education. That dosen't mean you have to spend it on education you clever ****. It's there to fund your living costs whilst you're in college or whatever. When I got it, I never once spent it on education or living costs, I used it to go out on a night time and to buy things like clothes. If you have a problem with that, maybe you should be righting to your MP or w.e instead of being a spoilt little brat on a Habbo forum.

Yeah, that was so funny, it's comical. I'm going to e-mail Jimmy Carr now and see if he can use that, Jesus... genius.

It's for educational needs, that's what it's there for. You're just selfish if you don't use it for that. I have to work to get money to pay for everything, you don't because you get help with your educational costs which is what EMA is for!

Monopoly
06-09-2008, 11:14 AM
I don't know if the EMA works differently in England but in Scotland it's generally just an incentive for you to stay on at school.
I've never et anyone who spent their EMA on educational things tbh.

Heart Break Kid
06-09-2008, 11:15 AM
lol!!!
so you expect people to spend 120 quid a month on new school books!!! :P
lmao ur a joke
exactly katy
the government reward you with 30 quid a week to stay on
with that money you can spend it on W/E you want

Funya Chin
06-09-2008, 11:17 AM

What???

Heart Break Kid
06-09-2008, 11:18 AM

Paulio
06-09-2008, 11:19 AM
I think you're seeing things, I wasn't joking about anything love. Btw I said "when I got it" - I no longer get it as I have a job, like yourself. I personally have never met anyone (irl) who uses their EMA to fund their education. Also, if it's just for educational purposes, why do they give out bonus' every so many months?

"OH YES I'M GOING TO WORK REALLY HARD THIS MONTH SO I CAN GET MY BONUS AND SPEND IT ON A MATHS BOOK"

Yeah, that was so funny, it's comical. I'm going to e-mail Jimmy Carr now and see if he can use that, Jesus... genius.

Well if I'm the only person who will be using my EMA properly, it should be abolished.

Paulio
06-09-2008, 11:30 AM
If it got abolished, a lot of people wouldn't go to college.

Heart Break Kid
06-09-2008, 11:33 AM

Paulio

Less education costs = More job seekers allowence (dole money) paid out.

lol what r u studying?

06-09-2008, 07:49 PM
I don't see what's the big deal about EMA. Its used as an incentive to get kids to stay on and complete higher level teaching. I never used my £30 a week on school stuff. I stopped getting pocket money and didn't feel the need for a job so I lived off it.

I work in GAME now and the amount of chavs and mothers with 15 kids that live in a council house coming in buying games and cheap consoles, blatantly off their benefits is more frustrating than kids on EMA. Atleast the kids will get something out of their 2 years of education, where the chavvy mothers are just going to continue doing nothing and keep buying games from my tax money.

That, in practise, is the same thing as people spending EMA on crap.

I do find it silly how money gets spend on non educational purposes although there is no rule against it. It's like what neversoft (I think) said once, it's like his parents paying for you to go to college.
