Get rid of either of these because it's not used for what it's meant for. People just use post counts to degrade each other and it's the same with reputation.

I just think it would be better if we had none of these two.

You have the option, as VIP to disable your reputation.

Post counts just shows the progress of a user and how long they have been on forum. e.g high post count - usually long time on the forum
low post count - usually newer to the forum

Don'tfeed the trolls please. ;)

And I disagree with you, I think reputation and post count are good on the forum. They let new members know who the more experienced and probably mre helpful are.

And I've never seen anyone, when in an arguement stoop so low as to say "Oh well. I have 30 more posts than you..."

Tbh imo you only made this thread to find someway to complain about HxF, sad tbh.

And post count is good as it shows newer members who are more likely to know any questions they may have,

That'll make owning a forum, being part of a forum and the running of a forum pointless. It'll just be a glorified, multiroom guestbook! There isn't even a major problem with the two, I haven't seen any crisis at least concerning the two... It would be an incredibly pointless change that hasn't got any justification behind it.

In any instance that this occurs you should report the post using the report post tool. There is no reason to remove reputation or post count simply because one or two people use it to make themselves look bigger than others. Simply report any post that breaks the rules. There is no reason what so ever to remove the post count and I doubt reputation would get removed either. :)

Maybe people with loads of rep and a high post count feel 1337 and if they do, So what? Personally I don't really care about my post count but I do like to have a healthy number of reputation points which I think we all do. I've never heard anyone say "Shut up noob cos I have a higher post count than you!" and I don't think I ever will so this case should be closed now unless you can come up with some evidence that proves we need to ditch the rep and post count.

If someone feels they're better than others because of their high post count, I think it's your choice to oblige their big headedness, or you can bring them back to earth and prove them wrong :P

I earnt it all from doing alot of stuff for people for free such as coding and making signatures and crap. I also used to do alot off trades back in the day and people used to rep you for them ^^.

I'd love to know where all these stories about who can turn off reputation came from, yesterday aparently only admins could turn it off :P Anyone can turn their reputation off by going to userCP - Edit Options.

There's no benefit from disabling post count or reputation. (Unless you don't want people to see your negative rep ;))

I got an idea, delete the Forum Games sub forum. And I agree Sam, today has been here since March 2007 and almost 10k posts.
