No, don't let him remove the internet, many people will be upset :(.

No, seriously, if you are on an o2 contract with your phone then http://broadband.o2.co.uk and if you're not then www.bethere.co.uk

Your household income (for financial year 2007/2008) How much EMA you get up to £20,817 per year £30 per week £20,818 - £25,521 per year £20 a week £25,522 - £30,810 per year £10 a week more than £30,810 per yearno entitlement to EMA

Step 1. Go to neighbours and ask politely if you could connect to their wireless.

Steps complete.

If you don't have a wireless thing on your computer then buy one then go back to step 1.

EMA will not give you £30 unless you qualify for it. It's up to £30
I think the best for you would be the t-mobile £15/m plug and play internet which downloads through the mobile network at about 2mbps, upside is if you have a laptop you can use internet anywhere with signal.

Those deals are a rip off, you HAVE to pay for 24 months, I hope you're aware of that? So the Laptop isn't free, it in fact costs you 960 quid, take internet.

Virgin media provide internet for like 9.99 a month.

EMA is money that the goverment provide people with whos parents earn under 30k a year so they can provide for school books etc.

You could get yourself mobile broadband with that?

lolwut
09-09-2008, 05:47 PM
You could get 3 Mobile Broadband for £10 per month.
Although Mobile Broadband is meant to be insecure if you're not careful. Or something?

Mobile broadband is generally quite slow at the moment.

Not really, I setup a t-mobile modem for a friend and it was easily fast enough for loading pages at a decent speed. Views youtube videos with eas aswell. It's your phone you're using as the modem that makes it slow.

Recursion
10-09-2008, 07:44 PM
Actually no its not. It is infact, generally slow. If you get a USB Modem from T-Mobile it will speed it up, slightly, as the phone can't handle the information as quickly. But about half of the UK is 3G, and that is still slow. Even less of the UK can handle 3.5G, and I know for a fact 3G is no good for YouTube videos.

If you have the right job type, you can make it look like your earning less than you are.
Also, ema goes by how much your parent earned the preceding year.

My mum had problems with my sister, so she had to move to part-time, so next year I wont get £30 because shes back to full time. So this year, I only just got into the £30 limit.

So it dosnt go by how much you have in your bank, it goes by how much you earned :P

My uncle works for several companies, so he gets different pay slips for different companies, so its hard for them to check out how much he really gets, so my cousins get ema lols.

Why would it be a joke? 4 months goes by pretty fast especially when you are doing other stuff to pass the time.

If he had say 2 million in his bank account then he would be living well off the interest at around £100,000 a year which last time i checked is a tad over the ema scale

Interest and income are different, I doubt it matters about Interest.

You can get £30 a week even if you do work, even if you where a billionaire you would still get it as long as your parents earn less than 25k a year.

That's the beauty of it.

If you turn 19 and still in college, you can't get EMA anymore but you get adults funding which is also £30 for every student - no matter on the earnings or job you have. Everybody is liable for it.
