videos not playing (+17 rep)

no videos will play. youtube and everywhere else, just videos - they load, play for a couple of seconds then stop. i drag the bar across a bit, and it does the exact same.

i'll rep all useful replies

Are they trying to buffer, or do they fully buffer but fail to play?

Try:

Upgrading Flash
Clearing Cache, cookies e.t.c.
Different browser

You may need to reinstall shockwave or get the latest version if you do not, also try clearing cache etc, if all fails reinstall your browser.

they fully load to the end, but only play a couple of seconds then just stop. i will try the above now cheers

edit: just deleted cache + cookies, still the exact same. they are working on internet explorer, so it's probably the browser.

can anyone tell me how to overcome this on firefox without having to reinstall it?

No problem, mine sometimes does that it loads then plays like two seconds then says 'reply' but normally a browser reload fixes that. :S

Oh and what browser are you using?

Have you restarted your PC recently or do you keep it on all the time? :P

usually keep it on all the time but i restarted a few times in the past few days. it seems to be working now thanks to clearing the cookies and cache and a browser reload: case closed.
