View Full Version : Any thread about the LHC..

Can they be closed (not this one though, obviously), I don't know how many other people are getting annoyed with them but they are doing my nut in, and people that start the threads have NO idea what they are talking about and don't take advice on reading the facts posted by CERN and what experiments they are doing and what is happening in the LHC tomorrow and when they are actually colliding the protons.

There's my two cents of how annoying this community is starting to become other a petty rumour that started on the internet and then leaked into the media.

And, to most whiners, I am not adding to the majority that keep posting about this, but trying to stop it.

I think the rule 'don't make a thread if there already is one like it' should be applied to this case.

I agree with Hiro, it's annoying with people rambling on

I think you should go further, instant-ban then kill the person who made the thread. Seriously though they are very annoying.

I agree with this, its really starting to piss me off. Its worse than the forum games forum always appearing in new posts.

Thanks for the feedback - I've merged eight threads in Discuss Anything and renamed the new thread as "LHC Discussion (supposed end of the world)". :)

That's annoying too, the world will not end.

+1

Well, I am interested in the whole LHC 'End of the World' thing but I know that it'll never happen and if we're not all dead by Thursday we should completely stop talking about it. A quote to reassure that we won't die:

"The LHC reproduces in the laboratory, under
controlled conditions, collisions at centre-of-mass energies less than those
reached in the atmosphere by some of the cosmic rays that have been
bombarding the Earth for billions of years. We recall the rates for the
collisions of cosmic rays with the Earth, Sun, neutron stars, white dwarfs
and other astronomical bodies at energies higher than the LHC."

That's the thing though, we won't be dying at all and nothing is happening tomorrow apart from a beam being sent in the LHC (the whole of it) as all they did in August was test the separate areas of it.
The colliding of the protons is on the 21st October.

The world will NOT end - FACT!! Scientist just confirmed it on Radio 2. No black hole, no explosion, just an experiment. So I agree they should be closed, leave 1 open maybe for people who actually want to talk about 'Big Bang Day' and the experiment.

OK, 22nd October then ;P.

If there was bad danger, why would scientists do it? CERN made the Internet so they're gonna recreate the big bang correctly :D.

If I had it my way I would give a stupidity ban to anyone who believed such-and-such journalist who says the world could (or will) end due to the LHC possibility of creating a blackhole.

I would also punch such-and-such journalist for the environmental impact he has made by wasting money, paper, ink, energy, petrol (for transport) and my time in the face by publishing such bilge in the media.

This is my own personal view and not the view of Habbox.

The thing is, this black hole could exist. It is just, the chances are extremelyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy slim.

JIN I HATE YOUR SIG, I FELL FOR IT >.<

I agree so much! The people that make the threads are so ignorant. I get annoyed in real life as well. Yesterday it was the topic of everyone on the bus saying this and that which was all a load of crap.

It's confusing aswell because everyones going over the top with it all and creating threads when none of them know the facts. :/
