I need a question answering, and I need it answering fast.

Every single update iTunes have released, they've changed the (registry) values of my DVD drive which makes so the DVD drive is not detected by Windows, and is well... Broken, unless I reset the registry and get back my DVD but that comes with a hell of a lot of fiddling. I would like to know whether Apple have FINALLY fixed this problem or not.

It's a PC related question for Windows Vista users, so if you have an answer to this issue which has kept me down on iTunes 7.0 for the last... 6 months now, I would really like to know.

Thank you!!!

Tis a rubbish update. Once you have minimised it - it won't maximise again.

I have suffered this problem of not being able to use my drives either, both are ASUS. One is a cd only drive, does not write. The other is a DVD-RW. I wasn't even aware you could fix it via the registry? More info please. I usually just uninstall itunes if i need to use a disc which gets very annoying.

Anyone on Vista and got a BSOD due to iTunes 8? Well here you go:

Some Windows Vista users are having significant problems using iTunes 8, which crashes the operating system with a "blue screen of death" when an iPod or iPhone is connected to the PC.

Apple today released a tech note, suggesting to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support, restart the computer, and re-download and re-install the iTunes 8 installer. It's unclear what about Apple Mobile Device Support was causing the problem.

According to Macworld and ZDNet, Apple simply replaced the files associated with Apple Mobile Device Support (usbaapl.sys or usbaapl64.sys) with the versions shipped with iTunes 7.7.

But apart from that iTunes 8 works great for me, then again probably because I'm on a mac?

Crashes when I play a certain song, my favourite as well :(
(Tonight in flames - Cradle of Filth) probably need to re-download it.

Took mine half an hour to "Create artwork thumbnails" due to the amount of music I have.

I see they haven't fixed the problem where it pops over whatever I'm doing when it's processing something. Done it 4 times while I've been typing this :@

Make that 5.
